Subaru Owners Tyre wear help please.

Post by Mr Windscreen »

I,ve had my wagon since november, no problems at all but went for my MOT yesterday and the front passenger side tyre is completely bald on the inner edge. :? All 4 tyres were replaced about 8 months ago and have done about 8k miles. Is this just a tracking issue or something more expensive?!

Tracking or camber mate both can be easily adjusted at an alignment centre. I would go to somewhere like Autopoint in Norwich as your average tyre fitting centre won't do camber adjustment.

As Woody says, get a full 4 wheel alignment done.
I had ours done 2 weeks ago for the first time and the track on the o/s/r wheel was way out, even after the main dealer said that it had been done when the rear shocks were repalced under warranty last year :x

Beleave me its well worth doing it as our Scooby feels like a new car now, so much different :D

I'd have said it was a tracking issue not camber.

I have max camber set on my Sportwagon and my front tyres are hardly scuffed on the insides. My rears though wear well on the insides as they are running even more neg camber than the fronts as standard.

If you only have one tyre that is wearing badly then you may have gone into a big pothole or tapped a kerb on that side and it's knocked the tracking out or possibly a track rod end is worn or damaged.

Either way it's cheap to fix.
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Waiting now for another execution date!!:headhack:

One new tyre and a 4 wheel alignment and everythings sorted. The whole front and rear were way off, looked like it had never been adjusted. A simple fix in the end :-D

Glad you got it sorted out,
Simple 4W alignment often does the job. :D
