As usual mate a superb write up !!! I reckon the neighbours in the gardens near us wondered what I was doing chuckling away in the glorious English sun whilst reading your post.

Look forward to reading more on the project mate, I think the idea of a stripped out version sounded good !!!!!!

Trademark

I spend all afternoon shearing bolts off and discovering rust and bloody great holes in the wings, cross members etc and then that turns up :D

Oh well, it's a bit of luck I'm in no real rush. I may have to postpone my involvement with Frank at the June 16th track night. Betty will be a fine stand in.

Aviva Maff, get it right ;) Anyway; why would I want to earn a living driving the country sampling the finest cars, both modified and standard and getting paid well to write about it? To be blunt, I enjoy writing but I'm bloody sure no-one would pay me to do it. I'm probably about as good at writing as I am choosing sound buys

In terms of the project or the next daft car that I'll buy?

In terms of the project, the car is being stripped down now.

The arch liners are off

The wheels are off

The light shrouds are off

The front bumper is off

Front wings and side skirts are next and then I'll have to get some friendly welder to start finding some solid ferrous to attach some new panels too.

If you meant the next silly car, I'll wait until the Golf is paid for (should be June) and then I'm off a hunting. One thing you can be sure of. The next car will be fun. The next car will be drivable from day one without any welding [-o<

It needs to return semi sensible economy and must be rear wheel drive. Maybe a Lexus LS400 or a Soarer :D

Betty is still my track day/ sprint weapon of choice Stu. I have absolutely no plans to make Frank a car for that use, it was more that I was interested in putting it around Snett for shits and giggles. The idea of re-enacting a getaway movie could be such a laugh.

At the moment I expect that the Jag will simply get tarted up and Summer use, wafting around with a suitable grin, that's all. You can relax mate. My straight six will still be chasing your straight six. (I mean the German one)

I recalled some details about the trip back. High speed tramlining due to the M4 and M5, could be due to bad tyres and or poor alignment

The music on the way back
D Train - You're The One For Me

Phil Collins- Don't you lose my number

It was like a far fetched horror story where the radio only plays songs from the era in which it was created :)

One of the rear speakers had blown meaning that I could only endure 20 minutes at a time. It was like one of those Japanese water trials.
