Ach, sorry to hear that Ian. Have you been able to pinpoint the cause?

My scoob is at EngineTuner now getting a forged 2.1 stroker done.

I chose to got for the 2.1 because im not after massive power, and what i have now, just over 380 bhp is more than enough for my needed as it is a every day car 90% of the time, with me and the family in.

The 2.1 stroker is around the same price as a 2L build or cheaper. i also use my engine block, so need to worry about letting the dvla etc know.
The 2.1 is also alot cheaper that a hand full for other garages that i phoned/emailed for quotes, and for the spec that I am getting, I think it is a good deal.

I am going for a drive in, drive out build, and the car will come back to me with a running in map on, 500 miles- oil change, 1000 miles- oil change for good stuff, then re-map. I normally try and do everything my self on my car, but i felt that this was just a job to big for me, and if i made a mistake,I could not afford to do it again a second time. so i have left it up to Alan and his team who know how!

It was over a 5 hour drive to EngineTuner, and by the time I got the the knocking was worse, and Alan comfermed again it was a bearing on its way out.

I have given Alan a camera and asked him if poss to take some pics of the build along the way.

this is the spec that i have gone for, and have been told it will be safe for around 500 bhp 450 lbft, so more than enough for my needed.

The 2.1 comprises of your original engine block, removed, stripped, hot chemically cleaned and painted silver.
We rebore to the first oversize, using stress plates, and beam stroker hone to fit Wiseco forged pistons.
We fit a new 2.5 crank, with Cosworth engine bearings, and K1 forged conrods.
We fully overhaul the heads, surfaced, and valves and seats cut and lapped.
We fit Cosworth head gaskets. We would use ARP head studs and an RCM oil pump along with a new cam belt.

The above would be fully installed with a base map set for running in. We wash engine bays as a matter of course, and would return the car properly presented.
