Big ends are knocking in the Golf, so it might not last the dayI'll still drive it like I'd nicked it though :-D
i'm sure i'll be able to slot you into Edna for a few laps. I'm going to be spending most of the day playing with suspension settings as it will be the first time ive used it with the stiffer shell so its back to basics for me

'Edna', 'Betty'.........??
Whatever happened to being a kid and imagining that we'd name our cars as something really cool or hard as nails?
Wayne......presuming we're not in the same session, I'd love to have a ride in the EVO. Even if we are in the same session, I'll probably need a breather at some point if you can fit me in.
Steve, if you get the opportunity to try Wayne's, go for it. The experience should be immense.

No worries Stu, its going to be a day of setting it up as ive not used much and havnt set it up with the stiffer chassis so should be good fun. After getting it ready this week and seeing how its looking i think i'm actually starting to like the car again.

Well, personally speaking it was a great dayGerry H wrote:Hope you guys have as good a time as you're talking up :-D Enjoy :thumb:

The day in question started very early for me. A mixture of childish excitement and the various animals we share a home with all deciding that they were bored meant a 5 am wake up!! Bastards! So, with the wide awake club all dying to go out for a run/pooh or whatever and yours truly bouncing off of the walls, the time dragged............still, the car was ready, the trailer prepped and my travelling partner(SteveVR6) cajolled into an earlier meet.
Steve, Jamie, Kelly and I made our way across the Norfolk countryside to the venue for our bi-annual tear up at RAF Marham. We arrived just after 8am and bowled straight in. The guards loved the Camo M3 and waved us in after the basic checks of ID. We made the short drive to the paddock area and met with Jason and Andrea, Lee S13, eventually Wayne and Lloyd, Fast Eddy, Lolek and Ian200sx. Les (BigBimma)and Jonv was there too and in very short order, we had a good little turn out from the folks at BigPower :thumb:
The cars varied from sheds to beautifully presented Skylines and Ultimas. The consistent thing about Marham and its events is the really relaxed atmosphere. There were rules but it never seemed to get intense or overly regulated. Having said that, I got another rollocking for entering corners 'too hot' and effectively intimidating over drivers with my cornering

The meat of the day was that Betty behaved very well. Braking was good (video to follow) Handling was superb (video to follow) The driver still needs practice (video to follow) and Jonv's M3 absolutely pissed all over me and mine :notworthy: Simply speaking his car and driving were too much to handle and I'll need to bring a considerably bigger stick the next time we decide to have a nose to nose. (1-0 to you Jof

Betty showed just under 150 on the back straight a couple of times (one up) In reality I guess this was somewhere around ten per cent less. Still not bad for an eBay special and God knows how many miles. The brakes (Ksport 8 pots) are simply superb, lap after lap doing the honours. The 17 event tyres (Toyo R888) are still hanging in there. Not as good as Jon's Dunlop slicks obviously but good and progressive, even if the ape behind the wheel :wave2: asked too much of them. Talking of Jonv's car I need to give you some context of just how quick it is. We entered the back straight at similar speeds (Jon did get a better line and therefore carried more speed into it) He passed me soon enough and continued to disappear off into the Horizon. By the end of the 1.2 mile straight he was 300 yards up, easily. He pulled away from me as quickly as I pulled away from Les and his 220bhp 328i. Different world 8)
Anyway, the weather was good. The value was superb and Betty provided some good laps for a few people who I hope enjoyed her and the ride.
No photos yet and no video until Ben sorts the footage. (No pressure mate)

Edited to add
Les and his 328 are plenty quick enough to embarrass many so called faster cars and he does this all of the time.
I've added that so as not to come across as an arsehole (or any more than normal
)
My comment about Jon's car in relation to mine and then in relation to Les' was only supposed to highlight the difference between a 220, 280 and 340bhp car.
Hope that helps
