golf vr6 track toy
ok, been tinkering (dont tell ian
) tried the harnesses and found that the drivers right shoulder falls off the top of the seat due to the possition of where it is attached to, weve used the original belt fixing points. Ive now swapped them over so the straps are crossed behind the seat, is this wrong to do this or exeptible?
Well the golf has been running a treat but sadly after a fantastic day at snet the brakes lost interest

The car really did feel good and i'm starting to get to grips with fwd, I did manage to run out of talent twice on the day but all good. Lloyd manage to keep on the tarmac and got more confident with the car every lap.
while we spent some time choosing the best way to go with the car we have decided to take a few more bit out for weight saving. We've also changed some of the geometry so hoping the car feels better next trackday

picked up a new brake set up, but having trouble with the fitting, I think it was a bit of a bargain and hoping to get over the issue's. The caliper doesn't get much clearance for many wheels and has now made 2 of our sets of wheels not clear them!

this stripping of weight is addictive had the sunroof out and replaced with an alloy panel, and removed central locking pump and other electrical items that weren't needed along with the wires going to it.

We'll project vr took a small break due to new brake issue's but it gave us time to get a few small jobs done. Out came the old spray gun!
The wheels got a respray so they look a bit cleaner

One of the front wings needed sorting due to rust and someone maybe jacked up the car in the wrong place with out checking so.......

new wing mirrors purely because I like them. They are lighter as well which was a bonus.

Finally the brakes got sorted by having new bells made. I'm looking forward to seeing how they go they are only 4 pots with 320mm disc's but they should stop the vr with out much trouble

we have also gone to wheel studs rather than bolts as they are easier. Another trackday can now be booked.

Where did you get the brakes? They should be far superior to the 280mm (from memory) ones that are normally fitted.
Good work.

was led to believe they are from comp brakes but its not there kit but looks like it uses there universal 4 pot. A chap who owns "big dub" sorted the kit. stops his twin vr6 turbo'd golf so i thought they'd be ok. time will tell. using hawk race pads but no idea how good they are. got street and race compounds so will see

Looking good Ian, I wish mine was coming along like that...lack of time and funds at the moment, got to get some new shocks and a drivers seat subframe.
The brake conversion looks nice, must be an improvement over stock although mine seem to good on the raod but not too sure how they will hold up with the heat on the track.
