The surprise of the day, in a nice way, was Jonv's M3. Powered by an E46 M3 engine and one of Specialised Components ECU's and an APT map, it effortlessly pulled away from supposedly quicker cars. 340bhp, a decent suspension set up and AP brakes mean a genuinely well sorted car for around 10k. With him, Slarty and Richards M3 and Mr Beale's CSL with it's new diff, I'm going to have to push very hard indeed to keep any of them in sight when we all meet up.

Specialised Components ECU???????? sounds like i will be having a chat with Gary when i go pick the CSL up from APT, might fancy one of those......

Good work Gary - didnt really come across you much on track but I did notice the menacing sight of your car in the rear view mirror pulling out of the pitlane just behind me in the afternoon. As you say, aero definitely works but it does find weaknesses elsewhere as you carry more speed through corners and can brake later and later. I definitely found the limits of my brake set up.

From my point of view I know I built a new to-do/to buy/to blag list from yesterday but superb testing and tuition from Phil Glew on how to bring the package together inspired confidence and it ran almost faultlessly all day long.

It is a real shame about Ross's evo - I didnt see it on track (or the same part of the track as me) all day but the girls said it visibly looked rapid. No wonder it won the 30-130 day. :thumb:

There were a few examples of shocking driving but I didn't find it too bad in fairness - most people moved out of the way when they could but maybe a few of them mis-judged the closing speeds of the faster cars out there.

A cracking day.
