Tyre size questions

Post by RX7 »

Hi Guys,

Was looking into replacing the Jap tyres on my Volks and had a chat with Ben about it. The tyres on them at the moment are:
Fronts
235 45 17

Rears
255 40 17

Is it normal on a RWD car to have a lower profile tyre on the rear ?
I checked this on the FD forum and they do recommend these sizes for 17inch alloys.

Anyone had any experience with TOYO T01-Rs ? They are very good value (around

this is very handy for checking tyre radius/profiles etc.....(i'm sad like that!)

there's only a couple of mm between your fronts to rear! (due to aspect ratio)

Gareth, I've had those Toyo's on four different cars in four different sizes. For a budget type price, they offer consistant grip and breakaway, with good wear rates. They deal with standing water well, and are now what I put on our cars when they need replacements. I've always felt the improvement when they're on.
I normally find blackcircles.com do a good deal if Gary can't help.
Regards
Rob

F1's are good in the wet, for defo. if its just a road tyre and budget is a factor then the Toyo's are a safe bet.

A few people also rate Kuhmo's as a cheaper option!

Anc with blackcircles, the more you spend, the more discount you get next time. It's not loads, but it does add up.

Nobody said anything about the Asymetric versions of the Eagles. If people on the Rex forums get them its normally the ones with the V shaped tread.
I was told that the old "v shaped tread" is being phased out in favour of the asymetrics. I have used F1s on the Gtr since I have had it and have always been impressed with them in the dry or wet, but this time I went for the Dunlop sports. seem pretty good to me.
I may be getting older but I REFUSE to grow up :D
