Thanks - I know the car was a bit of a strange choice, but it looks good to me with the plans I have. After seeing it half assembled this weekend i really want to get on with the dry build so i can strip and etch prime the shell. I want to see what this thing looks like as a rolling chassis with wheels and doors. Hopefully it will get warmer and lighter in the evenings soon so I can stand the workshop for a little longer.

Another cold and slow weekend. I cant believe it is sunday night already, as I dont feel like I achieved much. Maybe i am just jealous of those who hit the track today. But on to the update...

I'm sure I can find some hours in the weekends to help mate. We'll get the Silvia done so we can go skidding :)

This weekend realy was short one, and I still have work to do tonight before the morning so this is also a short update.

This afternoon I turned this:

Into this:

After a CAD mock up in the week it didnt take long. It is a big work bench and on one end will be a frame for an english wheel / louvre press. And the bead roller will bolt to the other end when needed. I ran out of steel and time to finish, and it needs some paint eventually. But it is usable already.

Barely looked at the Volvo or the silvia other than moving them. The misses MX5 got half an hour fixing the handbrake but that was the only car work. I am alss working or on holday for the next two weekends so there wont be much progress in the mean time. Ohwell, By the time i get back ti it it might be warmer. :?

Agree about it being a waste the Silvia just sitting there. Saw it last weekend and remembered how cool it looked !!!

The other progress is great !!!

It is very cool, and even just moving it today was an enjoyable experience to drive. Love the car, but I havent been able to make use of it.
Monday may give me some news anyyay that means it will have to go up for sale. Watch this space.

Lack of progress in the weekend helped tonight. I made a mess this evening laying a new level concrette slab to put the lathe on (my garage floor was nothing like level). After cleaning up for that I put the lathe to more use machingn a couple of threaded tube inserts for M10 rodends. They will be used for a brace frame that will go over the engine to stiffen up the fornt end. Only 2 made so far, 2 more needed another night.

I can put pics up of either if anyone wants to see them but neither are very exciting.

Frustrated today because i didnt get teh new toy, but it does mean the Silvia wont have to go up for sale, I just have to start using it. The problem is that it is a complete drift car. Too silly for the road, but not enough of a race car for me for a track. Which way do I take it? Suggestions welcome, but that will be for another thread.

Right back from holiday and no time to spare slacking so... Metal lathe finally on concrete slab and leveled, and wood lathe now ready to start conversion for metal spinning. The base will need strethening as well as the new tooling that needs to be made.

Engine out again, and now on the new strong table with the gearbox. I have the spigot bearing to fit now, so next step is going to be the first wooden prototype at a gearbox adaptor. Thor didnt want to sell me theirs unless i bought the whole
