ran loads of 1300/1400 rally versions of these and amazing what you can get with only 125'ish bhp and a decent short ratio box............

always ran easily with my bruvs then ride of a 16v golf (albeit in full road trim)

scared quite a few customers who tried to keep up in their impreza's also..........

still got 2x old race engines and have thought about building another shell up but sold most of the "goodies" i had now so who knows

Thankyou Stu, I was kinda hoping you'd like it. ;)

Ive had a quick blast around the estate as it is now, and its insanely agile like a go kart, even as a 1.2 with all of about 60hp it goes really well.

200hp is going to be soo much fun on the track.

Im getting really serious with the cage, i'll get the pics up as soon as it gets somewhere worth showing.

Well I havent done nearly enough over the past week, ive spent so much time doing other peoples stuff...

...but on Saturday things took a step in the right direction.

Lee took my engine and box out for me so I could carry on working on other things.

Thanks lee! :)

Im sure I can cut some metal out of here... ;)

Should get around to test fitting the 2 litre engine at the weekend if the weather holds out...

In the mean time ive started on the brakes.

I was given these Astra GSi calipers years ago, and they went very rusty in my shed, but after a good strip down and wire brushing...

..and a coat of hammerite, they came up a treat.

Hopefully standard GSi brakes will be up to the miniscule weight of the nova.

And I found some more really heavy stuff to cut out. :D :D :D

I can lift the front of the car clean off the ground too now, ive just got a feeling this thing is going to be a lot of fun. :D

After seeing that little 200bhp polo dissapear into the distance on sunday, I think I might just enjoy passing some expensive tarmac totty. :)

I must admit I got a lot of attention with the car on Sunday due to it looking

a) Nato green
b) like a 318

There is an amount of satisfaction out of the wolf in sheeps clothing thing. You don't get a lot more stealthy than your chosen base model, so you should be assured of upsetting a few 'types' :)

Ok im getting somewhere now.

Engine's in...!!
Image
(and the front panel fell off, ha ha)

I had to make a mount from scratch for the front of the engine so I decided to just make it a heavy duty steel solid mount. Ive still got to make the rear mount the same way but at least the engines in. :D

And ive fitted the new hub centres from Chris Astley Motorsport (to take the larger Astra GSi driveshafts), along with new hub bearings.
Image

Just got to put the driveshafts in, and get back on with the cage...! :)
