Right, i'm not really impressed with my new toy. I fitted it on at lunch time and had a drive round, and had a drive around again after work, an it feels like someones removed my 2L and dropped in a 1L micra :x it's all trap and no trousers now, great.

So whilst i'm letting my money build back up ready for spending again :D i've been playing around on photoshop with a set of rota 'gtr' wheels, and i have to say, i think these are the ones to go for 8)

Image

A couple of other minor updates, the japspeed exhaust that i was looking into may be a no go over legality issues, apparently you can hear them a mile away and the police collar you for it and demand it to be changed back, so i don't want to lay out 300 rubs on something that my brother in law will want removed :roll: so i may go for a' mongoose' s/s box, but i'll have a cheeky listen to suzs first if she brings it to the meet :wink:

Japspeed;

Mongoose;

I've also bought a JDM personal steering wheel and boss suitable for my car, so that should come next week;

and the other minor thing, i fitted my new leather ball knob, looks good, feels great and it does the job. :thumb:

More progress! :)

last sunday i had another look at the stereo, trying to work out why it wasn't working right :? so here's a photo of the botch the previous owner did;

Image

thanks mate :roll:
So i started looking at the wires one by one trying to find any imperfections, so i thought sod this, and replaced wires that were either dodgy, or had dodgy ends (connections e.t.c) fitted it back in the din holder, turned it on and i have music again! but not just that, my fag lighter works again and so does the cars alarm system too :-k odd.

And here's the gear knob at last;

Image

Today i recieved a parcel from stores that had my JDM personal steering wheel and boss in, i bought it from a proper MR2 specialist ebay shop and is widely known in the MR2 circuit as being 'the man' (who i won't name) to do when it comes to MR2's. I asked if there was any issues in fitting this wheel and if there was any rips or worn parts on the wheel, had a message back saying that this is a direct replacement for a rev3+ MR2 and that it was in a great used condition....

looks fine in the advert;

look fine from a short distance;

Oh dear, nice big deep tear :x and to add insult to injury, the plug's nothing like the original one either! :x

so not to happy with this at the moment, waitin back on some answers.

coming on nicely, shame about the wheel - I only buy new mailorder and everything else I see before I buy as it's such a let down to receive shoddy goods.

Cheers Ben. Yeah it is a bit of a bark with the wheel, i had to pop to the shops half hour ago, and there's no doubt that the wheel is a well made brilliant piece of kit despite the tear :thumb: feels really comfortable, and it's 20 mm closer to you than the standard wheel so it's really ergonomic :D

i think from now on though, like you, i'll be buying new :thumb: roll on the GTR Rota save up!
