went to ford on wednesday to get th O rings for the front diff and they didnt do them anymore for the XR

No shock there then. I should break my car and sell the bits as Cossie compatable! I'd never have to work again :D

Al's brother Wayne turned up at 12.00 to help out with the rebuild. However yet again the weather was not on our side and it was far to cold to be working in the shed all day. I had already considered this and almost gave Alan a heart attack when I surgested that we build it in my kitchen :o . Needs must.

We did as much as we could today bearing in mind the weight of the engine, wanted to make sure that we could still lift it to get it out of the kitchen
We did have one slight mishap when fitting the sump. Miss read the torque settings and instead of torquing the first bolt upto 8 Nm we did it at 24 Nm :o  . Needless to say the bolt snapped :x . Luckily there was still some thread showing so it was a case of get all the bolts out and the sump off and then remove the snapped bolt. We then had to clean off all the sump sealant and start over again.

I did toy with the idea of videoing the engine installation but when Al and his brother work together on the car the air can get abit blue. But it's funny as hell.
Tomorrow should be interesting fitting the engine, loads of pics of that

took the heads home last night and gave them a repaint in red and look much better than they did in silver.

Image

also painted these a while back, thermostate housing, power steering pump bracket,
alternator tension arm and alternator/power steering bracket.

Image

can you tell what colour the engine will be yet :-D
