Why is this country so rubbish?

Last week in france they had a couple of feet but the roads still flowed !! - it beggars belief how our infrastructure cannot cope - it's not like they didnt know it was going to snow ... pathetic.

I've just got back from London having taken Hazel to her new job near Kentish Town. On the way down from Northampton the M1 wasn't too bad but as soon as we hit Luton it quickly bacame apparent the council hadn't bothered gritting and all and sundry around me were struggling to make progress very slowly.......except me of course!!

I will say though most people took the hint and stayed at home....i've never seen the M1 that quiet in years

As for North London, as soon as we hit the North Circular it was just how you would imagine a Victorian London scene at xmas with a foot or so of snow absolutely everywhere. My front number plate is well hidden from speed cameras under a couple of inches of dirty snow!!

people from the likes of canada, norway, sweden and the rest of those places who get buried with snow every year must look at us and laugh like feck at the chaos and disruption over the few centimeters of snow we get every year, it is a bit embarrasing TBH, i can just imagine the front pages of the papers tomorrow"CHAOS ON UK ROADS" "BRITIAN AT STANDSTILL" "WORST WEATHER FOR 1000 YEARS" etc etc, just an easy story for news papers and the likes im afraid :oops: :oops:

We had barely enough snow to cover the lawn and suddenly most of the schools are shut, unfortunately not my kids

could have done with a day off to look after them and build a few snowmen.

My daughters at infants school and its open, but the local high school (which is 500 meters away) is shuting earley at one over safety fears... weird, little kids are safe but big ones arnt????? Must be worried about snowball fights :-D

Been out working in this all day, a few roads i couldn,t get up due to the hills but no real problems.

The Main roads around here are fine but the back roads were a bit ropy this morning.

As Jase said. gas guzzling 4 x 4's rock. I had no problem in the Hilux whilst others were struggling

Isn't it rediculous how even though we had warning, it all goes to pot once the flakes start to fall.

Lol, on Monday I left from Chelmsford in my crappy VW Passat and drove to work in Harrow...

Ok, so the A12 was a bit hairy, and the M25 wasn't great, but I still got there and was less than an hour late for work.

I think a lot of people just used it as an excuse for a day off work

i've done just over 900 miles in the Scoob this week and the only hold up was a non snow related accident on the M6.....maybe i was just lucky but there was nothing that caused concern on the main roads....
