It's time to insure the Mustang again but I had enough trouble last time, everything is OK until they ask " have you had any modifications to the vehicle"?
How do you get on with insurance when you have had heavy mods, the main differences are
Tubbed
4.6 changed to 9.2
Nitrous on board
I know when I spoke to the companies last year they had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to explain the changes. Is there a company that you use that knows about "unique" vehicles? Is it possible to get insurance that covers you on the strip as well? How do you get on with the value of the vehicle do I need to get some sort of report or estimate to send through?
I'm sure I'm not the first with these problems but would be interested to know how you got on
How to get insurance?

Keith Michaels do agreed values. I made sure that was the case with my Scoob and all the mods i did on it have been taken into account, and i have all the receipts to prove as such, and that's who i'm with now!!Ian200sx wrote:flux, say its a show car type thing. they can do agreed value with a report.
Keith Michaels or Competition Car Insurance. won't do agreed value.
The hot rod boys must insure there car's through someone and there mod lists are massive.
Oh yeah, and they've just let us insure a 2nd car that we've just bought (2007 S-Type Jag 2.7d SE), and given us full no claims bonus on that as well, and beaten the competition by some serious margin

Nothing worse than having to start another car policy when you've essentially got no NCB. As Gerry said, Garry Moulson at Keith Michaels is your man!!
edited to add: What about getting hold of RedVictor and asking him who he's insured his 2000bhp with. That's a road legal dragcar!! :thumb:
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Waiting now for another execution date!!:headhack:

I have posted this on another forum where the guys run in the National Street Car Championships as some of them are running up to 1500bhp and will be in my class. All these cars are street legal and a few names are trickling through as recommendations but I want to shop around for the best deal so the more suggestions the better

Is that some sort of oil surge problem that a baffled sump might fix??Ian200sx wrote:surgesting? surgest ?
Back to the point. I went with Flux for my previous golf on competition insurance with about 5k miles a year. It covered the car as it would be in race form-stripped,caged,engine mods whatever. They did an agreed value as I asked them about it, in that the value of the car might not be that high but there would have been a lot of man hours invested in the car and worth more than it would have been on paper. Even covered the car between rally stages, not that was that of any use.
They were fuckers when I ended it early though, glad I didn't pay it in one go.
