New Lambda fitted, and 2nd hand MAF.

Car has had trouble idling once in the last week and still feels hesitant if i drive over 70mph, going back to Clives today for another look.

I guess the only other option is to buy a new MAF and maybe ECU by the way things are going :(
Is that 70mph in a cruise sense ? ie not full on acceleration

I would guess that you are into open loop at the point and it may be just running a little lean when not under load. (it doesnt need to be very lean to make it feel jerky) This can easily happen as the MAF replacement could easily change the fueling given in that area just by varying the voltage read by the sensor by a very small amount.

Idling rough could be any number of things but it seems you are going through the complete list of possibles with Clive

What ecu do you have on there?

have you actually re-set the ECU when fitting these new parts...........if not then that in itself can cause the ECU to do strange things

yes it could be the fuelling as it tends to happen when holding a steady speed of 70mph or more, and thats about when the original 'misfire' happened on clives rollers a couple of weeks ago, on hard acceleration there is more than enough fuel as i have the bigger pump fitted but the standard fuel reg still.

i'm still running the standard type r ecu (just missed a spare on ebay the other week).

the ECU has never been reset to my knowledge, i'll get clive to look today.

I've seen MAF's advertised 2nd hand as 'tested', anyone know how to test one? i'd imagine you need to simulate an air-flow which is of course pretty much impossible on a bench.

The problem is fixed now................

Dave at Henstead Motorsport (who i've used a lot in the past) picked the car with the intention of trying his v4 type r ECU on the car to rule out any problems. When he came to remove my ECU he noticed a crimped bullet connector on the MAF wire!
The male & Female halves were so loose that it was hardly making a connection, now it's soldered everything seems to be spot on and to be honest the car feels better than it has ever done.

I guess that's just another one of those things with an imported car - you never really know the history or what parts have been fitted and removed prior to import. Makes me wonder what mine has been used for what with the Syms headers, zerosports turbo, and possible aftermarket MAF?

I guess it's time to get back on the rollers and see what the powers like.

Thanks for all your advice guys, much appreciated
