I'd be inclined to fit the new stud & nut, check the tightness of the others and if all seems OK, start it up and feel for leaks while it's cold :)

Checking the other manifold nuts may reveal any weak threads or loose studs/nuts which you don't want to find after replacing the gasket :)

Check the header to up pipe gasket while you're at it.

Good luck

Thats the car sounding better and possibly feeling a bit perkier too :)

Of the possible 6 studs/nuts for the manifold only 1 was tight! Replaced the missing stud and nipped up the rest. No blowing felt and a much less ticky sound. Also patched the hole in the down pipe and redid the gasket with some gasket paste at down pipe to centre section as you could see soot on the underside of the car. Not overly fussed on quality of those repairs as it'll as be getting replaced!

EVO coolent pipe of and silicon one on. Not the best fit, but much better than the Evo one that was just hanging on.

Really handy having the ramp to sort things out :D

Took it out for its first trackday. More a fault finding exercise to see what was needing done first. All went very well once I got the hang of the car and its more twitchy nature (compared to skyline). Had the back end locking up down shifting early on, and wild over steer. Sorted out my driving and a few clicks up on the DCCD :) all a lot more controllable. Hint of understeer if too hot into corner, as expected.

Running standard calipers front/rear with fresh fluid and MS stopper. No problems with them but the car is running very light and sub 300bhp. No fade at all, with nice firm pedal. Looks to be 'endless' pads front and greenstuff rear (green pads at least.... hope they arent LOL )

Tyres - need to be better. Car was slithering about, but that was quite good fun. Its still running the jap spec Toyo trampio's it was imported with.

Susp - very surprised. Lacks the composure of the damping in the skyline, but it'll do for now. Very little noticable body roll, but quite crashy on quick bumps. Its running ancient Tein basic spec coilovers (type HR from memory)

Knowing how competitive me and my other half are, you guys must have an absolute riot if you're anything like as bad

The cars look great, Fee's is unrecognisable from a couple of years ago. So glad that worked out well in the end after all of the upset of it getting nicked.

I bet you're both looking forwards to KH in a fortnight? Home turf battle with all of the Southern softies coming up to your patch :)

Have fun.

very much 'at the moment' But currently its no match LOL

Duncan - Na :( i'm away back to Angola for 6 weeks or so. I'll miss KH, but should be home for Brands. Stuff to get the car eligable for TA/Nippon is top of the list though.

What diameter bars does it have front and rear and is one or both adjustable? (2 or 3 holes at the end, to alter the effective length)
Neutrality can be tweaked using the right bars, whilst leaving the dccd open in the dry (64% rear bias). Mind you, its characteristics will change once you've got non-teflon tyres on :-D

Ah, edit after looking at the vids - presume it was damp/wet most of the day, in which case dccd would indeed be needed. Would love to do trackday there in my scoob ... fond memories of first ever bike trackday there 14 yrs ago and, yes, it pissed down!

yup, i think with decent tyres the DCCD could have been left alone. It was damp on and off. Heavy rain, then sun, then both LOL Good old knockhill.

right...

Revolution 3" downpipe and 3" system ordered.

Now I need some advice on brakes! I was planning on 330mm 8pot Ksports for the fronts but I cant get them as cheaply as I was hoping. I dont want to spend 3k or so on a set of 'desiger' label brakes LOL. Can anyone suggest a set of brakes around that size that are tried and tested on track?! Are D2 shite, or 'same' as K Sport?
