split from original topic as don't want to turn that into a piss take / debate rather than useful information for beginners.

What did you race Jay?

Was my fave track when I raced bikes too (until I did Oulton...)
1:47 on a 20-yr old 50bhp TZR250 and about 5sec faster on a thundercat 600, although I never really got the measure of the 'big' bike.

Am dog slow when I try to ride a (road)bike there now tho :(

Raced scoolboy 125 on a Yamaha RD aircooled Then went on to 125 national with a water cooled YPVS Then advanced to 350 ypvs and pretty much as you said i never got the hang of a bigger bike. i was pretty good on the ickle ones if i say so myself but the move to the <400cc class saw me dragging my sorry ass round tracks with an average 12th place from grids of 15  Wrote off 5 bikes in my last season and never went back.
Brings back some memories that was over 20 yrs ago.

OMFG how old am i ?

Off to console myself with some tidying on the beastie LOL
