Advice on Digital SLR Camera Please

I'm thinking about getting a new camera and one that seems to tick all the boxes for me is the Cannon EOS 450D with a Tamron 70-300mm lens in addition to the standard 18-55mm. Have any of you guys got one of these, and how do you rate it?

I have this model of camera and rate it very highly, I use a Canon 70-300mm lense with mine, don't know what you wil pay for the Tamron but worth considering the canon lense if the price is similar, as it has also had a really good write up in the mag I read.

Where are you looking at buying yours from, as I have a guy I know well who owns a camera shop and he did me a cracking deal.

Very interested in this subject too as the happy snappy camera just doesn't cut it, click and hope i capture the car in frame Was looking at 40d's iam guessing the 450 is a couple of models up......

I've had a Canon 350d for some time now and found the Sigma lenses to be good. I seem to use the 18-200mm more than the 70-300mm as the bigger one really needs a tripod to get a good photo.

Most of the Canon lenses have an Image stabiliser system which would help with that too if you wanted to go to 70mm to 300mm, although i think some of the other models may have this too but it's certainly something I have found useful.

Mike, try Warehouse Express, they are one of the hottest internet dealers in terms of price and luckily they are in Norwich! (Hellesdon Park industrial estate).

That said, once I knew what camera I wanted (Canon EOS 400D), I actually bought it from Tesco Direct!! I didn't need any help by that point and absolutely no-one could touch their price at that time.

70-300mm but i think ive probably outgrown it, its ok on a nice bright day, but struggles when things get a bit dim.

I wish i could add to this to help, but i have nikon and fuji stuff, so can't really help apart from, I think the Tamron 70-300mm lens is good value for money, maybe isn't as sharp as a pro lens but it's so much cheaper that it really out ways and tiny difference.
