When we took the inlet manifold off we were quite surprised at how coaked up it was.

Alan decided to take it home with him to see if he could clean it up a bit.
He was surprised to find just how pitted and jaggered the chambers were.

Alot of grinding and scrapped fingers later this is the finish that he managed to achieve without any specialist tools

Both! Jees take a chill pill Paul
So you are saying Burton have no race experience? :o
very interesting that! mate they where building RACE engines and winning races and series when you and I where still in nappies!
But hey what do they know eh?
Funny how much of the tuning parts/methods that tuning firms use for the cologne where tried tested and thought up at........................................................you guessed it....................BURTON :P

Now in future before you get on your high horse DO YOUR HOMEWORK mate!

PS. Burton are not mates of mine nor do I have mates who work there, they are just very good engineers who do a bloody good job and give sound advice!

Oh and if your trying to have a dig at a certain mate of mine (Clive) who built the engine in my 4i........DONT!
Fact 1..... He was a very sussesfull hotrod racer who only gave up due to lack of funds.
Fact 2..... Engines he built and tweeked have won the hotrod world championship (twice) the legends series (3 times)
and the legends race of champions in the USA 3rd place.
Fact 3..... My mate Terry Grant will not let anyone else build his engines for his stunt cars (for which he is world famous)

By all means take faradays advice (theyre a good firm by reputation) but be carefull about who you slate and make claims about mate.

I'm now getting off my soapbox.

PS Paul CHILL OUT DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kev....I wasn't refering to Burton as your mates I was saying that clive had a proven track record of building engines and as such would you take advice from somone else or listen to Clive. Me personnalyy I would take advice from Clive before anyone else as he has a proven track record.

Don't recall slating anyone off BurtonPower are a Top company with excellant service and we use them often for supplying parts.

Nice to see that you're both passionate about supporting your chosen builders. Let's keep it civil please :)

I personally think Burton are great. I used to buy all of my chinos from there ;)

Well Clive has built engines for lightning rods and Sierra thundersaloons and more importantly the old Eurocar series (the V6s where cologne lumps). The parts and advice for which was sought from Burton!
So to sum up, Burton are pretty much the fountain of knowledge if you want reliable race power for a Cologne engine mate.
They aint cheap BUT pay a bit extra in the short term and you can save a packet long term and i'm sure every racer on here can relate/agree with that.
remember all the comments I make are my own thoughts and experience and are done with you and Al's best interests at heart as mates!

I think we can safely say that the engine has taken some abuse of the past 2 years and has stood up to it surprisingly well

As mentioned in another thread Alan has decided to make another bumper for the car with 2 aims. the first being to improve air flow to the rad and intercooler and the second to allow cooling of the oil cooler in its new position. It took him only 45 minutes to get it to this stage

Can you tell what it is
