Yes, yet another Subaru!

Post by Jon »

First of all i'm a wee bit intimidated by this forum, so please break me in gently.
Hello to you all. I'm a member of some good Subaru forums and also ScabbyNet (yawn). I drive a buyeye wrx which is fairly standard.
I've driven a few tracks (Millbrook many times,Silverstone and Ascari) but only with the motor companies i worked for at the time. So i can't really call them track days as they keep you on a fairly tight rein in terms of speed. Ultimately i would like to come to a few track days as a spectator and get a feel for the whole experience before plunging head first into the seemingly endless modding that is track car ownership!
I've meet a couple of Bigpower members and you seem like a friendly bunch, even if sometimes the technical talk baffles me. I've worked in the motor trade for 20+ years but i know very little about tuning etc :oops:
Anyhow if anyone is still awake after that intro then hello.

Jon

Hi Jon

Welcome to our forum :thumb:

Your opening post caught my attention for two reasons;

a) you have driven Ascari :notworthy:
b) you're a little intimidated by the forum.

The circuit has almost been burned into my mind after watching Clarkson knob and splutter his way, bless him, around the circuit. Some wonderful cars were used and the combination of the very best corners from the Worlds finest circuits.............wow!!

The forum is only the combined spirits and thoughts of the ladies and gents that use it, nothing more. Please don't feel awkward about using the site for reference or participation. Whilst we have some very fine drivers, many competing regularly, we are all here for the same basic reasons;
An adult environment where we can exchange ideas about great cars, great driving and how many times Tom can sign up for events and then drop out shortly afterwards :lol: You'll soon see what I mean on all fronts.

As Lee eluded to, we do run our own events and the Virgins track sessions will be amongst our priorities for the early part of next year. They are a great way to lose your circuit cherry in safety with people of a similar standing.

If you have any queries or thoughts, please feel free to ask away either by posting in the relevant section or via PM

Oi You!!!

Welcome Jon

I am the "apparently ever so famous" Tom.

I like you am I complete virgin to trackdays. ALthough there are events like the Autotest's that are track minded ( if you get me ) but not as intimidating. Well i found that anyways.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your time here , they are a friendly bunch and always give great advice.

Well most of the time

[quote="stuart"]Hi Jon

Thanks.
WOW what a welcome. I feel a little bit more at ease now.
I'm particularly looking forward to having my circuit cherry popped in saftey next year. I know a few people who would be up for the same. But they are as intimidated as me. :oops:
As for what i "used" to do workwise.............. please don't hold it against me, i was a salesman for Audi, Mercedes,Mitsubishi,Honda and a few others. The Ascari was brilliant fun (and bl**dy cold) at 6am. I only drove basic Honda,Ford,Toyota,Vauxhall saloon cars etc so it really wasn't as glamorous as it sounds. What was interesting is the amount of carnage i saw, i've never seen so much battered armco
Again thanks for the warm welcome and good to see no txt spk on this forum :roll:

Thanks Julian,

I'm forever in your debt as everytime i need something you seem to have it sitting on the shelf for me :D and very cheap! Really looking forward to fitting the new part.
