Far Cry 2

Post by RX7 »

Got this game on friday and have been playing it non stop !!!

It is superb, the story is like most FPS - a bit weak. The main mission is to kill the terrorist known as the Jackal. But its the huge options of side missions that I am playing at the moment these can vary from taking out people, destroying ammo trucks, stealing gold etc etc.

The AI is superb and am playing it on hardcore which is pretty tough.

The graphics are out of this world, its based on Africa so expect dense jungles, deserts, dirty river systems, small towns etc etc But the best thing is the time of day that plays out in a much better fashion than in GTA4 and more drawn out you no longer go through a whole day in a few mins, it cant take quite a few hours. The game covers all times eg dawn, day, dusk, evening, night etc and you get suitable effects like the sun setting shining through trees, shimmering when in desert areas.

You get a healthbar and if it goes below the last bar you have to heal yourself. This means a graphic scene of you pushing the bullet out, biting it out, pulling out some debris, smothering flames on you etc etc and then you inject yourself with some serum.

I could go on and on about how great it is and how realistic I think (based on absoutely no experience) the weapons are, some really nice touches include picking someone elses weapon up but finding it jamming in the middle of a gunfight because it hasnt been looked after. There is even game wandering around, this is limited to Zebra, wildebeast, gazelles and chickens at the mo but they are talking about releasing a 'predator' patch which will include lions, crocs etc.

Its more violent than GTA4 and much more enjoyable each mission gives you the opportunity to approach it how you think is best which can have different experiences each time you play it. The AI really makes this work and people can chase you for miles either in cars, boats or on foot !!

I think its the game of the year for me !!
Get it guys, you wont be disappointed !!!!!!!!

I thought Far Cry was pretty good. If this is anything to go by i imagine Far Cry 2 is equally pretty good.

Have been playing Crysis recently and now getting though Crysis Warhead. They have got to be visually amongst the best PC games i've played. Waiting for HALO 3 and CoD 4 to come out on PC.
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

Waiting now for another execution date!!:headhack:

Stu, my xbox isnt plugged in to the net (its upstairs and router is wireless) so havent tried the multiplayer yet. But the reviews of it seem good but basic I think.

Not really read much about COD5 yet but I think its a shame it is WW2 again. Bit of a step backwards in my opinion after playing with the modern day stuff in 4.

Gareth - dust off the 360 and get Fable 2 mate, it's ace! Faced with the sensible decision on Friday of only buying one new game, it won out over Far Cry 2 easily.

Cheers,
Alex

Are you gay Alex ?!!!?

There was no choice between playing some sort of elfish game and the bloodthirsty realistic Africa of Far Cry 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Seriously though I havent read anything about Fable and didnt play the first one either.

Fable was very cool even though it was a million miles away from the developers promises. No idea about the second one as I have been removed from gaming for several months.

Killing or talking? Depends on who I'm playing with I guess.

Jeez, calm down Mr B !!!

Whats good about Fable 2 ? Worth buying ? When I went to Game there was a huge queue which I was expecting for Far Cry but actually turned out to be people buying Fable 2. The staff looked a bit shocked when I said I wanted Far Cry 2 !!!
