Now that was a good day out
I was at work watching my mate spray a Mk 2 Ford 'boatina' and got a call from Stu saying "I think there is something going around Snett that you need to see.....
"......he mentioned xjs's, xj40's, s-types all race prepd' :thumb:
It was great rumbling in my english V8 to park amongst the best of british classics......it made a change because I am normally surrounded by Japanese machines.....you could smell the leather and burr walnut :bandit:
Like Gareth said I love time attack but this racing was more enjoyable.......something to with the cars going through the bombhole 3 abreast and around corum 3 abreast and then into a braking competition....superb

Stu, the camera in your N95 is better than my Olympus Minimju thing. I should have used mine instead of the camera. Some great shots there.
Like the guys have said above it was more enjoyable watching cars race each other rather than racing for times. I reckon if a few more of the Time Attack boys moved over or built as quick cars it would gain popularity. I'd love to see Olly Clark in the gobstopper go against other racers.
The biggest eye opener for me was seeing the MX5s keep up with machinery that should embarass them. I know a lot of this is down to the driver etc but this was on a really big circuit with some long straights where the turbo and bigger engines should pull away. If they were keeping up on a track like this, what on earth are they like on a complex twisty track like Cadwell !!!!!!! Now thats a race I am gonna pencil in to watch next year !!!
We were waiting for you to salute Dan or get a suitcase with some pimms out the trunk of that TVR

Sitting here, the morning after the day before
, I think I have decided just what makes this more appealing than the conventional sprint based stuff (Time Attack or otherwise)
The sparring with other drivers, the chess match of blocking and different lines, the personal battles that developed all of the way down the field; it all transpired to make a proper 15 or 20 minute slug of good entertainment, and that was from a spectators point of view. Whatever must it have been like from a participants hot seat?
Many of the cars that were taking part were affordable to buy, run and race and next years introduction of a brake horse power class structure goes some way to ensuring a level playing field.
The entry fees are around

Good to meet up with some of the BP guys at Snett, sorry I didn't have a little more time to chat I was rushing round trying to get some video stuff I was beta-testing to work.
I had a great weekend fun wise (not so much results wise) and did get the video stuff working so have some great onboard footage which I will post soon. I did the 2 x Nippon Challenge race on Saturday and 2 x MX5 races on the Sunday. You think the MX5s in the Nippon was exciting, we had 38 cars on the grid for the races o n Sunday (shared with Mk1 MR2s which are similar pace).
