Donington 14th Oct Goldtrack.

Post by Bealo »

Well the trackday bug has well and truely bit me.

Monday lunch time i surfed the web looking for one more trackday before i leave for Houston. I found that there was a no noise limit trackday at Donington the next day.
After a quick phone call to check they had spaces at 2pm i was booked up, car loaded with helmut, video, clothes etc and i was on my way to Donington by 3pm!!!

I arrived at hotel at 6:15pm and checked in. I asked where the nearest Tesco's was for some 99 octane Super ready for the next day. When i eventually found it i was told that the midlands don't have he 99 super but a meagre 97 super. To stay i was cheesed off was an understatement.

After a good feed and a shower i hit the sack with my alarm set for 6:10am which for me lately is the middle of the night.......... After a massive full english and a couple cups of coffee. i set off in serch of some petrol, in the end having to settle for ome BP 97 ultimate at

I am so pleased that you enjoyed Donington. For me it ranks as probably the best circuit in the UK, and cliche as it may be, Craner Curves is one of the most fear invoking series of bends going.

I think that Donny is one of the few tracks that I have done a sessioned day on and found that the 20 minutes is just about right.

Did you get any video footage? I would be keen to have a look at what you were doing with your placement of the car, if you don't mind.

Have a great time in the States and hope to catch up when you're back in Blighty.

Noisey days at Donnington do tend to atract a lot of race type cars. Glad you had a great day and enjoyed the circuit  Looking forward to watching the footage.

Stuart,

Great write up but man the X6 is still butt ugly!
Those first few pics? where you there VERY late or VERY early, can't remember ever seeing the paddock so empty.

We were very lucky with the weather, all the rain we should have got came today however. I have been plodding round in a single-seater there all day today, for the most part being pelted with rain and squeegeing <?> my gloves out between session. It did brighten up later however.

Was good to get on circuit with you, you'd done a pretty good job of working it out the line by the time we went out and it was mainly tweaks, by the end we were seeing the Porsches off :)

Catch you again soon. Oh, and as mentioned but for anyone else down Snett way, I am racing there this weekend, 4 races, 2 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday, Sat is 2 x Nipon Challenge races and Sun is 2 x MX5 races. Its a classic sports car club meeting, timetable here : http://www.ma5daracing.com/files/timetable13-14.pdf

If anyone comes down then feel free to pop by and say hello. I'll be in an MX5 which i'm told is white, no idea of the number. It's a bit of a guest drive :)

stuart there is a shell garage about 10 mins from donny for future reference. the nearest tesco with 99 is near us a further 20 mins from donny. I wouldnt have minded coming to this as we got booted off donny in sept on an opl day due to the car being too noisy(100db).
