This is why the country's going to pot

Post by pablo »

I work for a large engineering and manufacturing company I was asked to work for them with a brief of sorting out the night shift as the bosses had some concerns about what was going on. This stemmed from someone bluetoothing a photo to one of the bosses of someone stratched out asleep :o

To date I have been physically threatened after sending someone home for being asleep.
I have also managed to prove that 75% of the staff are actually lying on the their worksheets and are actually only working for 75% of their shift.
One bloke in particular works every sunday on overtime for 12 hours even though in the week he is actually only doing 60% of what he should.
My harsh approach is not about making them work thier arses off or stopping them getting overtime, it's about saving their fecking jobs. We are heading into a down turn and if company doesn't improve productivity and efficiency then there will be job losses but these idiots can't see that.

This morning i was reminded by that bloke that i am a "sex having, afro caribbean, whose parents weren't married", if you get what I mean.

Disgraceful Pabs

The bottom line is that too many people lie and cheat. The best of luck turning things around mate.

That bloke sounds like a donkey. Sack him then twat him.

The problem is everyone has had to too easy over the last few years with everything on the up, but its now on the turn. It seem like at your place the staff run the company and not the manages.

I run a engineering company too with just over 30 people but there is no way I would run night shifts because of your very problem, people lie and cheat if they think they can get away with it.

Unfortunately the only way they will learn is to lose there jobs and if that is the way they want to treat someone who is trying to help them then it serves them right.

But still give him a little slap help him to wake up

I think you have to ask whether or not you need to run a night shift or if it needs the level of manpower that's working at a little over 50% efficiency. Presumably there's a night shift premium paid, so that'll reduce it to less than 50% per man hour compared with the day shift.

Easy to say, but is there a way of making each employee responsible and answerable to what they produce? Surely if you know that an individual or section is down on efficiency, it would be easier to deal with?

As for the wankers who threatened you and called you silly names

Kill them

Take the night shift off and see what they think of that. Also ask your nice friend if instead of calling you names he would like to meet you down the local park for an old fashioned straightener and see how big he feels then and if he says yes let me know and i'll meet him there for you with "Aunty Bettie oh sorry i meant Batty"
