Must need my head testing!

Post by Rob S »

After plodding along with fairly average cars for years and years, I have decided to replace my rusting 5 Series with something that will remind me of why i work so hard for so many hours.
I've looked for ages at UK Subaru's, M3's and really anything that has 4 doors and is rapid ish in standard from.
I had resigned myself to an Impreza, as they are quick, reliable and can fit the family into.
I have looked at loads now, and on the whole, they are wragged and scruffy, and with about 90K on the clock, a wee bit tired.
Then i tried a few on line insurance quotes, and found they were no cheaper than imports.
Then I happened upon an advert for a Legacy twin Turbo RS. Practical--yes Fast---280BHP so thats a yes, Cheap enough-- yes Good nick-----50k warranted and immaculate!
I'll be looking in person tomorrow, but i can feel a purchase coming on :D
I know it'll be thirsty, but a years warranty has put my mind at rest, and it'll be really interesting to see how it drives vs a UK Impreza.

Watch this space!

I had a Leggy Spec B before this impreza Rob. I never felt the love for it, it was a great car and all that but something missing in the fun department and involvement in driving.

I hope you like it but I think it will leave you feeling short-changed on the passion front.

My Dad'd got a MY00 B4 twin turbo Legacy, excellent car and very quick and smooth, worse thing is the lag between the 2 turbo's.

These are geared way higher than Impreza's as well so can do over 100mph in 3rd if you get a manual. So good on the motorway and my dad gets high 20's out of his on a run.

A WRX Wagon will do 100mph in third with a 5spd MT and mine will do a bit more than that now it has the grunt and higher redline.

A std WRX is easy and inexpensive to get 280bhp from, handles well and practical enough to get 4 people and all their holiday luggage into, or like mine fit both our large and medium sized doggies in the back without having to put the seats down. They don't mind being in the back for the long trip up to Scotland i'll be undertaking in the next couple of weeks, as there is plenty of room for them.

I wouldn't have said it would be as thirsty as the Legacy either although every bit as quick :D
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

All change!

After a long chat with a friend, and considering what my baby brother said, (well a little bit :D ), i went for the cheaper when it goes wrong, UK spec Impreza Turbo, and it's on my drive NOW!!!
Happy days, details will follow when I stop driving it!
