Last one out switch off the lights

Post by duncan »

Labour Market figures just out show:

- the largest rise in unemployment for 9 years
- the largest rise in benefit claimants for 16 years
- a rise in women in employment against a fall in men in employment (read into that what you will)
- an overall fall in employment
- huge reduction in vacancies available
- increase in long term unemployed

I have been through the 39 page document and cant see anything positive in there yet :( (as much as I would like to)

This is just to the end of July, all the bad news came in august and september... next qtrs figures are going to look even worse.

Official growth figures for the 2nd qtr have also been revised from 0.2% growth in GDP to 0. thereby officially ending the period of sustained growth. Q3 is predicted to be negative and mark the start of a recession.

This is only going to get worse guys/girls.

Sorry.

Keep up the good work Darling/Brown :jerk:

Makes you wonder whether Blair foresaw all this and deserted the sinking ship, rodent like.

Hopefully Labour's days are numbered along with Brown's.

Trouble is, whoever takes over has to pick up the pieces and will no doubt get the flack for the crap situation we find ourselves in.

Yeah, part of me thinks that Blair rigged the time bomb to spoil Gordon's 10 minutes in the sun. The other part thinks that Gordon realises his jig is up and is trying to make it as physically bad as possible for the next government out of spite.

Just been reviewing the news from 1978-79 - interesting parallels..

Now - would the rise in benefits not be related to the rise in immigration per chance?.

We are being reported as the most overpopulated country in europe !! ..

Plus - how often do you read in the news of the last benefit fraud being carried out by 'legitmate' immigrants ... surely we should only pay benefits to those who have paid NI and tax ?.

I can't recommend how to resolve the reduction in male employment - but if you made national service mandatory for all new immigrants - say 2 years - to earn the right to claim that could help reduce the number of people turning up !! .. also I still think a good old bit of capital punishment would help around here ... for the criminals that need to be deported once their sentence ends - we need to use the battle of britain memorial flight lancaster to drop them back home ... :)

You boys are worrying me that I may be a bit contentious - I will say for the record I am not sexist, racist, fatist, homophobic etc ... I just want this once great country of ours to get back on track - houses priced so first time buyers can actually afford them, salaries that actually increase above the cost of everything else ... or more realistically, inflation to be controlled.

The scary thing here is that I doubt this credit crunch will affect any politicians! ... 2 jags may have to go to 1 .. but big wows.

Just get frustrated that the UK has become a PC driven country run by a group of power hungry plebs.

And i'm serious about capital punishment - apparently we will have a prison population of 95,000 come 2012 - well If we started hanging murderous b**tards that would keep the numbers down - all these stabbings - what is stopping people - nothing - a couple of years inside - I thought murder was a 'life' crime - if so why keep them shacked up for 'life'. Oh an castration for peodo's and rapists ... that would cure their little problem.
