Hell yeah, i can still remember the summer of 1991, three weeks in Japan. We were the first non Japanese to be invited to the all Japan national championships.
Awesome experience, can still remember it today, and bizarrly, watching the Olympics the other week reminded me of my semi final contest, where no matter how well i performed, and how clearly i scored, i was NOT going to beat the defending chmpion and reach the finals!
Made competing in the UK and Europe seam easy after that though, too easy to be honest, which is why i gradually lost interest. Especially when i decided on Accountancy as a career rather than taking up the offer of a 5 year course in Japan to become a world wide instructor!
I regretted it a year later, but dont regret it now
