Will it rain, will it be dry :? :?
Whatever it does I'll have the wrong tyres on no doubt
Kim, did you get your finals through??
See you chaps nice and early.
Brands Hatch 6th September
Interesting morning :?
Brands is mental, and in hindsight I think a track session would of been best, attacking Paddock hill bend for the first time in the rain with a sodden track against the clock is perhaps not the most sensible of ideas:!:
Anyway, After Practice I was fastest but Messers Adams was taking it easy after an incident there last year.
Then the sun came out and the track dried for a our first timed run, I was on my new "wet" tyres, The new Goodyear Assymetrics which I found like a revelation in teh wet compared to the "ice grip" like Bridgestone RE070's. Buuut in the dry its a reversal. So on my forst timed run I shoot ooff the line in the pit exit and barrel into Paddock with gusto only to discover (see above) tyres don't have anywhere near the grip of the Bridgestones in the dry
so I lift slighty....oh dear.....you know wahts coming, the back steps out, I steer into it and think i have it to get back onto the gas and the car swings the other way, then the other, then lesser the other and I'm still alive and going forwards just with my arms in a tangle  :!:
I then bowl on but the the lap is lost. I find I am 4th after "super" Kim does a 94.2, Brian (GT3 RS) 95.7ish, and Russel (RE070's
) with a 96 something. Oh well i think, another run to go, and I'll swap to the Bridgestones if it stays dry....as I say this the heavens opened big style so much that water was running down Paddock and forming a puddle. Bugger is all I say, so my final run was a calm steady affair as there was no point risking it as no way could we go faster.
Well done to Kim, and well done Russell, he looked like he was giving it some when I saw him drive down paddock.
Roll on Cadwell where hopefully I'll either just be wet or dry :x

Hard luck Logan but well done Kim and Russell :thumb:
Hopefully the track practice at Cadwell will pay off next week, well that's what I'm counting on. You really can't go balls out on these ciscuits if you've not done them before.
Good to hear that you all survived the day and drove home in one piece.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!
Good point Lord Houghton,
Trying these tracks in anger without prior knowledge is a bit ambitious, but obviously bugger all we can do about it in the real world. Great news for Kim and very well done to Russell too.
I'm very pleased that the whole excitement didn't get the better of you, goading you into pushing too hard. It must be so tempting to really push on when you and Kim are neck and neck, and you can peddle like you can. (Reverse psychology there. Big compliments so that your eye is off of the ball for Cadwell
)
To say that I am a little excited about next Saturdays trip to the Lincolnshire Wolds is an understatement. Our recent trip there has done wonders for my confidence in the track. I hope the run out on Wednesday does the same for my confidence in the car
