The experience streaming is allowed for on sessioned days Andy and this format, open pitlane, is supposed to be for intermediates and above only. I would be the first to admit that this is often just smoke and mirrors. How much checking is done to see what peoples experience levels are? How much can be done?

Even tho it was streamed properly, where do you stop, as you can have good experienced drivers in one session but if 1 car is a 130bhp FWD and another is say a 500-600bhp Japbox then you've got the same issues?
Do they look into this at all?
Trackdays for me are defo good for learning a course etc, and the Marham one I'm doing is merely for me to hang the car out a bit and experiment with techniques in a wide open space.

A few years ago I ran 3 bike days at Cadwell and Lydden. That was for an extended bunch of mates, with everyone knowing at least a few others on the track, rather like BP events. The group familiarity itself promotes a good friendly attitude on the track.
They were the usual novice/intermediate/experienced format, but the marshals were asked to keep an eye out for anyone who should obviously be in a different group or who might be in need of instruction. When asked tactfully, they were happy to move group (up or down) or tag up with one of the instructors (for free).
That was a few yrs ago, when you could just have a few mates with race experience do the instructing, whereas now I think you need more specific qualification. Also, it's easier with bikes since there's a lot more space for overtaking, with more relaxed rules to suit. Plus there's a greater depth of laptimes according to ability - a well-ridden 10yr old 600cc is frequently way quicker than the latest litre-bike costing 5-10x as much.
It could still be frustrating, if on a low-power high-corner-speed machine ... having said that, probably the most fun I ever had was on a pals GP 125 racebike with 40bhp at the wheel, being passed on the straights then riding round the outside on the corners!
Also looking forward to Marham; will have decent suspension on the 'new' car by then and I need to learn the characteristics of the dccd transmission.
