Small one's are more juicy
What a cracking day!!! :-D
After a very early start (4.30am) Paul and I arrived at the circuit to find a fairly busy paddock with all manner of machinery being prepped for the days action.
Once signed on, briefed and having completed the sighting laps, we decided to have a wander through the paddock/track-side as things seemed very busy on track. We came across Gerry, Logan, Stu & Simon trying to sort out the buckled wheel. After having a brief chat, we headed back to the car to start some lapping.
The levels of grip on track were much better than back in November with the RE070's performing well. I managed about seven laps before realizing I hadn't adjusted the damping on the suspension and the car was wallowing in the bends far too much.
After adjustment, things started to come together... With the good conditions, damping adjustment & better tyres (The BMW only had ditchfinders!) It was time to have some fun!!!
I did manage about 40 laps but due to the early start, combined with a sleepless night beforehand I was suffering a bit! I also found the full-face helmet to be very warm for the conditions. (Now looking to buy an open face)
I also appear to have blown the damper oil - seal on my nearside front strut after an over optimistic clip on a corner curb! Now need to get that sorted before the MOT in two weeks. :x
Was good to see some familiar faces;
Gerry - Paul was very impressed with the laps and sends his thanks! :thumb:
Logan - good to meet you again and thanks again for the 70's (They did the job well)
Simon - sorry I didn't get around to saying hello. Will see you at the next one!
Stu & Pete - Sorry to hear abut the misfortunes on the way and hope it can all be sorted out...
Was good to see the M3 in the flesh and on the track, just a pity you had the problems to stop you enjoying a full days fun!
Sorry no pic's from me... Camera stayed forgotten in the glovebox.

Right, best add my bit for this.
This was my first ever trackday
So wasn't sure what to expect.
Got there to see Stuart and Matt getting prepped and unloaded.
Went out with Gerry on the sighting laps so i knew where I was going. Then did a 3 stints in the morning. And have to praise my PF pads, I had them smoking like a good un and they still worked fine, no fade, judder etc...very impressed.
Afternoon it was hotter, and after lying under Stuarts "Mad Max" for a while bleeding his clutch and retrieving his Mole Grips that he had left there for a while
I went back out.
best fun was to be had right at the end where I went out with Simon (Slarty) and followed the M3 for a few laps then we swapped over and I led. With mine on a lower boost setting his was quicker in a stright line but i had more grip through the corners, probably dude to the Yoko AO48's I had on.
Good day, but i have to say i wouldn't go crazy for trackdays, in the main I found it a little frustrating as there are so many different levels of cars and drivers on track which made it hard to get into a groove and start gaining speed on every lap. Also caning your car round for 20 minutes getting everything "melty" hot for no real gain (ie competition) is just not me. But a useful day to learn the track.
Anyway, enough blathering, here my pics of the day.

Tis a great track tho, eh? I did my first (bike) trackdays there 10yrs ago and my first ever race meet, getting a 3rd place pot on a bike I rode to and from the circuit (ah, the memories
I know what you mean about (car) trackday frustrations; some streaming according to experience/ability would probably be useful at most car days (something that's fairly standard on bike days).
Shame to have missed this one - I was on holiday last week.
cheers
