You can easily tell theres little grip by how slowly he's going !!

Hardly surprising that an old track that gets creamed 24/7/365 by all manner of machinery becomes a touch slippy when the humidity goes up !!

I thought you Scooby drivers were made of sterner stuff !!

:D :D :D
I have issues !!! :ack2:....I used to be average, now I reminisce !!!

Because I dont like tents and I dont have as much free time as you ??

Besides, theres no point taking a LandRover/Van/GolfTDI/BMWdieselauto/any of the others that are in pieces !!

So far I think the car has managed a total of 30 laps and done 2 gearboxes, a clutch, front bodywork, rear bodywork twice, and caught fire !! :D :D Its now waiting on a set of Step3 rockers, shims, retainers and cams from HKS as these also have decided to stab me in the back !!

Thank fook I dont try and map it myself else it wouldnt even get up the ramp on the trailer !! :D :D

LOL

:D :D

I dont see the point of not going in your "proper" car. If I still had the GT3 I might have taken that but it was such an expensive thing to throw round a track that it spoilt your enjoyment as you were always a bit paranoid about pranging it. And Stu put me off the idea of using something like the Golf purely because he was immediately getting frustrated using something so much slower than he was used to on trackdays like Marham etc. he advised me that my love of speed and sidewaysness just wasnt suited to "The cheap option". Besides, why spend money on yet another car and associated mods and bits, the cost of the trip etc, all at a time when I still have a competition car that dont work and is very touch and go as to whether or not it will make the next round !!

I know you guys are only having a gentle ribbing, but believe me I truly wish this year hadnt gone the way it has and that I could have got more use out the thing, especially after last years issues and lack of use !!

Anyway, thats enough thread polution from me, dont want the "crapping nazis" on my case ;) :D

Sounds like a huge excuse Bladey :D - with due respect to Stu, I think that lapping the ring in literally anything roadworthy is better than not lapping it. The Golf did Lee & Barney proud and had more than enough power to get the flavour of the place and scare themselves silly at times.

It isnt a track day there where you can hoon to your heart's content with no fear of consequences and therefore outright power is king. Learning to carry momentum through the corners in something low powered is the real test.

He did say that about the ring in fairness. It was a broader discussion about me whimsically saying I might get a Golf to become part of the BigPower Dub Posse at Marham and the other days they got used.

But it still dont get me past the fact that I cant afford all the fixes to one of my cars, let alone look at buying a 10th !! The golf, van and BMW all need tyres, as in all 3 have dangerous rubber with bald or even canvas patches in some cases - thats like

Was not expecting such a subtle response.

Putting cost current car issues etc aside this is how I see the ring

The most enjoyable lap I had was as a passenger in a 85bhp vw polo going round an r32 GTR on the outside of a bend, we went by endless cars with 4x the bhp purely due to track knowledge.

Only a few places on the ring I believe are about power the only other time is when you bottle it and use it to pull you through. I would be more than happy to go again in a sub 200bhp car without thinking about it slowly building up speed.

A 100-150bhp car is more than adequate for you first 10 laps and you will be using your driving skills not the car strengths. Also having a throw away car means your can push that bit harder I guess with only the fear of the Armco bill.

On our last lap a Scooby driver wasn

Great vid - interesting watching his face / lack of expression - and i'm sure the passenger said in german - "Zorry for ze smell, I zhit my pantz" - also - is that the best time to talk to the driver !! .. how about letting him concentrate :)
