lost a wheel exiting druids in the warm up

fooked the front wing/caliper/bottom arm

reason was the wheels had just been refurbed and the hib face was powder coated...........quite thickly it transpires.

Being a knob i did not even think about this............so as they got hot it melted nuts came loose and its me singing three wheels on my wagon heading towards Graham Hill bend on the grass................

Checked other 3 wheels and all were loose (nuts)...............I checked they were tight before leaving the pits as I always do.....

Borrowed Adrians (Fensport) trailer and was towed home where car is sat looking sorry for itself.......
:o You had a very lucky escape, Paddock bend could have been so much worse.... think of it that way my friend...

All the same, i'm sorry you suffered such a drastic failure...

Glad you're OK Dave. Must have been a nightmare indeed. :o

I take it everyone's seen these pics of an Evo during the public session?

Sorry to hear about your problems Dave, I was watching from Paddock Hill Bend with some of the TSS guys & we thought it looked like you'd lost a wheel, but as the pitlane was strictly "passes only" there was no chance to get over to see you, Adrian for an update. It would have been nice to have met some of the BP guys too.

I was on one of the display stands to promote the Toyota Sprint Series & we had also blocked booked one of the 15 min track sessions & we were off at 11:40.
Unfortunatley I started 11th out of 12 cars & had to pick my way through some traffic before i could really open the taps, when I did i had a mate (but close rival in the TSS) Simon Marsh behind me in his Mk2 MR2 & i decided to lift going along the main straight to let him lead & see if I could keep up.....he promptly got sideways going through paddock hill bend, caught it, but was on a beeline for the gravel & could do nothing except plow straight in to it (no damage, except pride, so fared better than that black Evo V). During the 15 mins i got overtaken by the heavily fettled Fensport Corolla (in T/A lastyear i think) & that was it, i even put a lap on some people :P so i was well chuffed as I have done plently of sprinting but never done a "trackday" session before.

There was plenty of ontrack action from T/A & looked like everyone was trying hard, i'd seen it on the TV before but you cant beat the real thing!!!!! I was about in the paddock around our stand/display so didn't get too see loads, from behind the wooden cladding a familar sound soon emerged ; tire squeel, followed by the kitty litter bouncing off plastic & metal as cars left the track at paddock.

Still buzzing & chuffed the weatherman was lying too, as it stayed clear & bright all day!

I am sorry to hear about your misfortune Dave - i was so wrapped up in stuff in the garage I didnt have much time to wander during the day. It was good of the Buddy Club team to clear a couple of inches for you though ;)
