Didn't realise you won the class Gerry. I just wanted to get home and dry out which took longer than the track. Congrats! And beating BP B3!
Dead pleased with my wet run but knew game was up when it dried. Goodyear F1s definitely much better the 070s in wet. Ask Logan... Mega 5-600bhp Evo was on 050s for first run so it was not all down to tyre advantage on my part.
A better start - it was worse in the dry than when sopping wet - and a more committed run on now almost dry track might have seen me get third (64s) but first two were in the 62s and beyond reach. So I was 4th with a low 65 and Logan 6th with a mid 65 sensibly taking it easy after his barrier modification.
Thank God it is a few weeks before Brands - lets hope its dry.

What a day......not one of my finest ones that I'll remember!
I stayed at a local Hotel so had a 4 minute drive to the circuit in the sunshine, I thought it may be that the weather would be kind from the forcast....no, its started raining shortly after getting there
The practice laps were like driving on ice, RE070's are offically rubbish in the wet....it was scary!
So after two practice runs of just sliding round trying to stay on track it was the first timed run. I decided in my head that the first kink should be slower than I was doing then I could keep my foot in around the next left which is over a crest, nope, I couldn't eh back stepped out, I couldn't hold the slide and off into the even slippery grass where I spun round and was accelerating backwards to the barrier
I braced myself for the impact, there was a large dull thud as I rode up onto the plastic cushioned barrier and I then glided back down onto the flat of the ground, majorly p1ssed off with myself I just started the car and drove it back down to behind the start where i got out and viewed the damage, I was amazed, the rear valcance was hanging off and my foglight was broken and the bumper was cracked slighty on the corner.....blimey! I then looked in the boot for damaged, none.....blimey that was lucky!
So I taped up the damage and did my final run which was nearly dry but as I was taking it easy into the first corner only to iscover there was loads of grip so then went into maximum attack but due to the time lost off the start and round the first bend I was nowhere......bugger!
Then to add to the day, on teh way home my clutch started slipping....fecking great, oh well, that motorsport as they say, you have your good days and your bad days....

Thanks for the reports and feedback guys. Glad to hear that 'Blacky on Ice' ended well and that the damage was largely superficial.
Class win eh Gerry? 8) Worth the trip now I bet! Congratulations
Was the talk still of imminent closure of the facility as a sprint venue or is it just the vultures circling? How did the thousand horse power Evos and the like get on? Did they toast the competition as was earlier predicted? (I suppose if Kim and Logan came 5th and 6th, that tells its own story?)
Well done to all.

Kim, was miles ahead in teh first proper wet timed run, think the otehr Evo boys were a tad stunded! But because it dried up so quickly they took advantage and whooped us. I am sure if the track hadn't been drying so quickly and the final run was with equal conditions myself and Kim could of been in a chance with a 3rd, but the 1st and 2nd Evo's were pure mental power....the way they came up the staraight was very impressive!
Well done Gerry on the class win 8)
Glad someone got something from the day :!:
