how stupid am i lol

Post by kev@tga »

i was on my way to pick a mate of mine up in my astra van who lives just past brundle it had been raining heavily i came up to a few warning signs just before an under pass i look and could see there was a little bit of standing water underneath the railway bridge, how wrong was i lol ,i put it in first kept the revs high and decided to proceed i got nearly half way down and the water came over my bonnet and at that point i thought to myself i am fcuked another car length and all the lights on the dash flashed and the van stopped bollocks i thought, without thinking i forced the door open only to be greeted with an influx of water filling up my van (should of climb out of the window) i got out of the van basically laughing my head off as i stood up and the water was up to my waste, i had a look around to see if anyone was there or anyone saw my failed attempted luckly there was not a person in sight,so i proceeded to push the van out and up the other side and it started with a lot of spluttering and i was on my way in a mobile swimming pool as every time i had to break it was like a wave rushing through from the back into the foot well i managed to get to my friends where i borrowed one of his saucepans to bail it out i then we both drove back to mine laughing and moored it up, It is now at apt getting sorted, just thought i would share that with you all :-D

Anone who's had an Austin 1100 or variant will know what it's like to have a tidal wave rush into the footwell every time you brake. But, you didn't need to drive into a flood, just every time it rained.

The cure was to drill a few holes in the floor because you could never find where it got in. There's a definite knack to operating the brake pedal whilst keeping your feet off the floor. :D
