Keep us all updated as i would like to know what direction to go for more power
Get the compression up by skimming the head 1 to 1.5mm and having a bowl and seat gas flow job should see you to 170bhp.
But the seat work will mean that you have to reshim the head as the valves will sit lower into the seat and consequently the tops are closer to the valves, its a fun job if you have a flat bed grinder. Luckily I do have access to one that Mass use for grinding shims and it took several fun-free hours to get the shims to size - I'm not 100% sure they're all as spot on as you could get them there are some ticking noises coming from the head, but sod it, its good enough for the few track miles I'll be giving it.

While you're doing the head you'll want to fit twin valve springs.

So getting a small power increase in the first instance is a lot of messing about with not much gain unless you're into the idea of messing around with engines.

After doing all of this someone told me about the fact that people in the US put the SR20VE head onto the SR20DE block and get around 190bhp with some mapping.

My rules on car tuning are never to count the cost, and never count the months... Its too depressing if you do! :D

And in the words of the Prophet All shall come to he who waits... Theres a trailer for hire 25quid a day less than a mile from my house!

Now all I need is time and money!
