On the advice of a work colleague i bought an Apple Mac book when i was last in the States. I was told they were user friendly but so far it's ben out of the case about 3 times.
I have had problems setting up my email and i-chat?? and to be honest have using my works brick of a Dell.
I am waiting to see my work mate who is a bit of a Geek and has a Mac book pro with loads of knowledge and software and give him mine to sort out.
What do you think about the Apple computers????

Love mine - I used my Mac Book Pro for most stuff and have windows loaded on it aswell for those times when developers are lazy and havent developed a Mac version of software.
You need to get a copy o Microsoft Office with Entourage - that will be much more familiar for you as it is like Outlook, but without the spam or viruses.
Stick with it - it will save you a lot of time and trouble in the long run.

This is the microsoft stuff:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.mspx (there is a free trial download)
For MSN I use Adium:
http://www.adiumx.com/
If you want to run windows then use Parallels:
http://www.parallels.com/ (then you can load on a copy of XP aswell)
For photo library and simple editing such as levels and colour balance I use Aperture:
http://www.apple.com/aperture/
Obviously iTunes for music
Firefox for internet browsing as Safari is pants IMO

I've got a G5 iMac and an Mac Mini which I have connected to my TV and amp as a media centre, and had a G4 iBook a while back so you can tell I like them
My XP laptop hardly gets used, OSX is so much nicer and easier to use IMO.
You might also want to try VMware Fusion (http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/) if you need to run XP, they offer a 30 day free trial.
Alternatively you can partition the hard drive and set up Boot Camp but I'd try virtualisation (Parallels or VMware) first.
Cheers,
Alex
