In the armco (with pics now)

Well lots of people really but mainly Chris and Gary from APT for getting my car in a fit state to drive home. In normal APT style, no fuss, no panic just straight to work to find the broken bits give me a shopping/scrounging list and getting it put back together.

Thank you so much and also a huge thanks to; my mate Lee and his friend that came to watch me and in the end drove me over most of cheshire collecting parts, to all the teams that I scrounged various parts, washers, nuts, tools etc from. It was great to be able to get home under my own steam. :notworthy:

As for the accident itself thats a story for a little bit later after I have had a drink

Sorry to hear about your issues, sounds like the usual cameraderie spirit helped you back on your feet but I hope the damage isnt too bad.

Sorry to hear you've had an off Duncan, although with the amount of track miles you've done, it was law of average that an excursion would happen.

Sounds as if the damage isn't too serious, I certainly hope that's the case? Good to hear that you're ok physically, it amazes me how the smallest of offs can be quite painful!

It happened in the warm up session whilst the track was drenched and on the last corner of the lap with the exit of the corner dropping away out of Lodge too much power on and the rear end came out too far and an over-correction on my behalf - almost saving it after it had swung back and the two left wheels touched the grass and I slid at about 50-60 into the armco. It was an almighty thump and sitting in the car I thought it would be a complete wreck.

I think I was very very lucky with the damage. A small angle of front on to the armco would have had a VERY different result.

As it happens the damage is confined to:

Front Bumper - Scuffed but repairable
Front Wing - still on but crumpled and stopping pax door from opening.
Front door - small scuffs and crease
Rear door - scuffs
Rear door surround - dented
Rear Wheel arch damaged
Rear Bumper - scuffed
2 wheels dead
Bottom ball joint
Front trackrod end
Lower wishbone knackered but got me home
Brake disc missing a chunk
Oil cooler bent and leaking
Splitter bent but will bend back
Pride - badly brusied

thats pretty crappy news duncan, hope you get it sorted out soon and dont cost to much hard earned to put right.

Sounds like you had a very lucky escape Dunc, although I'm not surprised you can see the 'lighter' side of it, you always make a positive out of the most dire situations :lol: I dread to think how you managed to break the news to Rachel!

Glad it's nothing too serious and look forward to seeing the car back on the road soon

Sorry to hear about your little attraction to the armco Dunc. At least you are ok despite the damage to the car. It could have been much worse.

Glad you are ok Duncan and still in good spirits. Sounds like it could have been worse mate.
