Horrific Images!!

i thought id start to do a short term fix on my arches as i cant afford to go to h-tech for a while yet as i want skirts and bumper and a few other things doing.

so i thought id just start to get rid of the small (so i thought) area of rusty metal and fiberglass it then fill it. however this is what i found.

i have taken the paint back in this part to reveal good metal, so this is as far at spreads.

im now in 2 minds as to what to do, leave it and somehow try to save up to get it to h-tech in the next few months, or stick to my original plan and tackle it on my own then go to h-tech for the full works all at once at a later date.

yes im doing it myself, like you say it cant get much worse, if it turns out bad i will be forced to go to h-tech prematurely.

how much is the wide arch kit?

ill keep the thread updated with my progress, aslong as you dont all laugh it!

OMG mate !!!!
That really is bad.

Are these fronts or rears ? Surely getting a 2ndhang front wing might be cheaper, might look bad but at least they'll be rust free until you have enough to get them resprayed ? Am sure the wide arch brigade probably have some they can sell cheap enough.

Personally I'd wait and get Chris at H-Tech to do it. Would be worth giving him a ring, he might be able to do something short term for you.

no its just the rears, everywhere else on the car is rust free, it looks like the car has had a rear end prang and had a very bad repair job done on the rear arches whihc has let rust in.

id rather not pay to have them done twice at h-tech, so ill carry on and see what i can do. im not going to go crazy on them it will only need to last a max of 4 months, then ill have enough to get everythng i want done at h-tech and have a kit to go on.

a few hundred lung fulls of dust and a lot of cuts later and im done for the night.

Looks a good job mate, at least doing it yourself will save some money.

Sounds like your car will be quite something with the mods you are planning.

hope so, the engine work is done for this year, ill get new turbos and fuel system next year, just going to get bodywork done a kit and some handling stuff this year.

im just hoping i havnt forgotten too much from when i used to work with bodywork.
