For sure, and the most exacting teacher of throttle control is a a fast bike, especially a racing one. The reason the racebike comparison sprung to mind is the binary nature of the power delivery. My old 250 had virtually nothing below its 7-10k powerband, so would have been a nightmare on the road however sensitive your right wrist. Andy's 20g scoob isn't quite in the same league, but its midrange didn't feel like the best place to be really (on its GEMS ecu when I drove it). Point I was trying to make is that a standard turbo'd classic has a midrange that's more useful on the road...but then feels like it needs more top end once on the track, eg. VF23 STi4 with no remap, although my new v6 with VF28(?) and remap has more everywhere, mid and top, so am looking forward to a track session with it.Gerry H wrote:You need to modulate your right foot on the road. It's all a continuum really. My first scoob (TD04 '95 WRX) felt all-or-nothing compared to my old VR6 Corrado, but felt natural after a while. The 125cc racebike that I once rode was hard work at first (power from 10-11.5k) but then stunningly good within a few laps.
