Looking at your car now Duncan it doesn't look like it's going to be a road car for much longer. You could always buy yourself a Micra and retire the Scooby from road duties

Fit some garden hose over the leading edge. Then you should be ok...dynamix wrote:Not til next january - but yeah it is a worry. Easy enough to unbolt the splitter but thats the least of my worries ... so much emissions stuff has been removed it will struggle on that.Gerry H wrote:First MOT coming up in the next few months. Will it pass with the splitter and now, side projections?
Nice job BTW
more worrying is if the police pull you up for it...
Take regular exercise, walk to you car!
I can do metalwork me :)
Can you see what it is yet ?

One finished, another to tidy up and on they go

Thanks to Jase for the use of the workshop and milling machine and to Yoda for the rough cutting of the triangles :thumb:

Dunc, the splitter...
Am i the only one thats thinks... why?
All these aero mods, surely your time would be better spent on the cars actual setup or time behind the wheel?
I appreciate the work gone into it and all but cant help but wonder where its going?
You say its a road car etc but road cars dont have all the splitters, spoilers etc etc that yours does.
Dont get me wrong im not knocking it, as i like the stuff you have done, just begs the question as to why?
In my opinion im sure these cannards, splitters etc dont do dick all unless youre a seriously tallented driver putting in lap after lap of consistently blistering times and you're trying to search for that final hundreth of a second.
(Now awaiting abuse from the rest of the BP forum lol  )

You are welcome to your opinion Frayz but that would rule out 90% of the TA field from improving their car's, through better suspension, better brakes, more power, lighter weight because they are not driving it to an inch of its capabilities on track.
Improvements (which these are and are well researched) can only help to make the car easier to drive at the limit (on track) by raising the limit and giving confidence in what the car is going to do. Road cars dont have these because they wouldn't see any benefit from them at less than the 60mph that is legal.
Sure tuition and time behind the wheel are needed but if you had seen my fuel bill over the last few weeks you would realise that time behind the wheel on the road is there - this wasn't there early in the season with the totally new driving experience/technique from the new set up. When you stop dicking around mirror polishing diff guards or making fancy battery clamps for it and actually build the engine and drive it on track, you will find that out. Time behind the wheel on track is not something I can do every night - can you?
I accept that instruction will help a lap time more than aero tweeks and that is why it is booked and will be ongoing but that doesnt stop me from making other stuff better or more effective rather than twiddling my thumbs.
