For second hand parts i can highly recommend Grade-A Subaru as they do mail order and have very reasonable postage costs.

If it turns out you need a rack (fingers crossed that you don't ) and don't want to upgrade then i would definately give them a bash as their prices are not bad at all!!

Andy is a really top man and knows his Scoobys inside out!!
Buggers cancelled my op just a couple of days before it was due. Inconsiderate barstewards!!

another up date.

the power steering was working, have been out for a drive, and it has stopted again. did the bleeding in like normal.

when the car is running, but stopted, it doesnt work, rev the car up to around 3k reves, you can feel the pas coming back again.

any idea on what could be causing this?

i have just been using normal atf fluid (dextron i think)

Just a long shot but if there's a hole in the reservoire cap, check it's not blocked and passes air. If there is a blocked hole it may be preventing the fluid from being drawn into the pump.

this was the 1st fluid i brought

then i got some castrol ATF/pas fluid.

do you think the hapfords stuff was wrong?

or the pump i have just got is buggered as well?

it all most seams like the thinkness of the oil is wrong.
