Sumo are the main sponsors of the MLR Sprint Series and have a good relationship with the MLR as a whole, thats pretty much why. You don't see any Subaru etc club pushing forward any proper motorsport led events.

As a single marque club the MLR are probably the best, but as Stuart has said, its a full time business.

Maybe it's a safer option and more likely to attract some takers. Applying the same conditions as the rest of the TAers isn't on or they'd be already in it, individually.

The thought of 'having a go' with a bunch of emates is far more appealing especially in a cotton wool environment. Having to buy a new set of tyres, that you wouldn't normally use would be a big turn off.

Still puzzled as to how the best 20 from each group have a superbattle. Is that MLR, club and pro? :o

I would have to agree there.

I personally didn't find the traffic on track too bad, but I know that a lot of people did.
(probably because I was at a trackday at knockhill the week before with a total of 55 cars!)

I would have thought that if there was spare time going, they could have made a third group for the club class and then just one MLR group
30 is approximately the numbers you get on a general trackday, and if the MLRE is, as they say, to have a go in TA and have fun on track with similar cars, then I don't think having 30 on track at a time is too much

TA entrants however have paid the full whack for the year, so I would have thought are more deserving of the spare time

Do the MLRE winners get a trophy?

Regarding traffic ... what are the TA rules on overtaking? Does trackday type etiquette apply or is it more like a race practice session?

Only overtake on the left
Headlights on when you are on an attack lap
Headlights off when you are not
Move aside for someone who is on a hot lap when you arent

Some people, especially in group A, were brilliant at moving out of the way, others were less so. The worst area for me was after dufas to the chicane when you met people who had just left pits.

There were a few ocassions were i was approaching the hairpin ready to start a hot lap after allowing a bit of clearance in front when there would suddenly be a car on my arse, with no lights on. I can only assume they were on a hotlap to catch me from the chicane so quickly, yet their lights didnt suggest they were.

From videos i have seen, group B looked a nigtmare to negotiate, almost as bad as the track day the day before.

That's where I found problems too...
A lot of the cars seemed to have a bit more grunt than mine on the straights, but I found that as I approached corners I was outbreaking them and slowing down for them during the twisty bits.
But then if you try to do a slow lap to get some distance from them, there are so many other cars on track that you end up being passed by someone else behind you and you're in the same situation again!

I think its great for more cars to enter as long as it doesn't detract from the full season runners, who, in my opinion should have the benefit of less cluttered track sessions, over someone who wants to see what its like.
