club street (street legal and fully trimmed)

Being cynical, the MLR bit just seems to be a money making exercise to help pay for track hire.
Fully Agree, there was talk of a tuner class this year, but this got lost for some reason.

Part of the issue now, is there really is no technical regulations, both club and pro are virtually open spec. i can inderstand why this done historically (i.e. when this first started and they did not want to exclude anyone), but now there are clearly 'pro' spec cars running in club. All within the rules, but not as you expect a 'club' class to be.

I think we need to hear from the Manardi Team of T.A

So why did we enter an event that we knew we did not have a cat in hell's chance of winning.

1. We are both massive fans of the BTCC and the TA uses the same circuits.

2. We love to compete.

3. Everyone says you need an open cheque book....Only to win not to compete.

4. Satisfaction.....We built the car, we race the car, we break the car, we fix the car

5. Yes we have some sponsership and Tuner support but that to us was part of the challenge. We had Tuner support before the TA. If we were only concerned with results then we would let our tuner put his engine in the car. Then we would be running around 500+bhp.

6. We listerned to that voice that lives in all our heads.............The voice of an 8 yr old child

Having watched the 1st round last year at Donny as a spectator the feeling that I got this year standing in the paddock as a competitor was sereal..

We entered purely and simply because we wanted to be a part of the TA. A decision 100% of the heart.

Where our cars are concerned (and this means you!!) the only time our heads get involved is when we want more power

[quote="dynamix"]Gerry - 2 questions...

1. why is doing 130 mph on a purpose built race track with gravel traps and safety barriers more unsafe than doing 130 mph on an old narrow banked circuit a few feet from trees (like longcross) ? both in un-caged cars.

2. why is

Lots of good points and discussion here :) Enjoying this :thumb:

A few comments.

Ross- BigPower isn't two years old yet and in any event, comparisons with the MLR, probably the best one make forum out there, do us no favours. Darin has made a full time business out of it and fair play to him. He does a great job catering for Evo owners :notworthy: I would like to think that we do our own things catering for our own users, I only wish we could be that professional (I also like the idea of making a living out of rattling keys and organising a few events ;) )

(PS- there is no way I'm going to start wearing those bloody trousers he dons!)

Dunk- valid point on the costs, but it is horses for courses. The entry fees are only one consideration with Time Attack and conventional sprints. You are well aware that the price of car performance preperation in TA is far higher. Kim also reported on a far more expensive sprint recently, although I'm not sure on the reasons for the higher costs. Motorsport, in any guise, will get appreciably dearer in times to come.

Logan- The crowded track time is the biggest concern for me. There seems to be a massive disparity in driver experience in TA and the prospect of Tappy, Ward, Harrington or any other 'pro' driver hassling for space with a relative newcomer is asking for trouble. We've all seen the difference between fast cars with slow drivers and fast cars and very fast drivers. One to watch I feel.

Pablo- I think everyone understands the reasons for taking part and the value for money argument will be a long running one.

I think the thing to do, with regards to the MLR class, is see how Rob, Glenn and Andy will schedule the day. They may have it all sussed out and it may well work seemlessly. The events this year have been superb.

PS Duncan. Sorry if that sounds a personal pop at you, it certainly isn't intended as such :D

MRL TA class regs have been annouced, same as club class except the Toyo Tyre rule.

Go to the last page and read what Glen H as director of TA says :!:

I don't really see what he's saying other than they're slotting in an MLR only session.

So, more entry fees without the added entrant expense of having to use Toyo tyres.

Top 20 from both groups go into super battle? Is that right? What groups? How many MLR members do they expect?

Hmmm may be worth re-joining MLR :D

Am I being too cynical?

I am a bit puzzled as to why its split into 2 groups of 15, which combined is less than 1 group of club!
