Noise levels

Post by Gerry H »

Just going through the Track Days booking procedue for an evening at Silverstone GP in July and see it's 98 dB drive by limit. WTF? Home of motor racing or what? :x

Daren't book it as I'll be chucked off like I was at Donnington last year. What a bas$tard. I love Silverstone and it's only up the road.

Rant over. :)

I think you might have to consider looking into making you car a bit quieter :(

Before long we'll all be driving round in cars that sound like the seat leon diesel touring car :x Knocking down small children because they can't hear you coming and they don't have the good sense 'the lord gave a turkey' to teach them the green cross code in schools anymore

Other than spending silly money and getting a custom quiet system, like Frayz has. I don't know what the answer is. The current exhaust that was always 97dB static, gave a reading of 100 on Sunday.

So it's getting louder.
:o

Maybe the baffles or wadding in the silencer are on there way out. I know that we have blown some of the wadding out of ours and that has made it louder on the static test. Maybe a race type exhaust with repackable wadding. :)

I spoke with Hayward & Scott about the possibility of a quiet box with little or no restriction. I think he stifled a laugh as he said it wasn't really possible.

These silencers do make a big difference. Gary at APT swears by the added silencing they provide.

Custom exhausts ala Frayz-spec are wonderful but

your welcome to try my magnex back box if you want to do the swap  and can get hold of a noise tester, the oval magnex you have does seem a lot louder than my round one, bit of messing about though
