I agree - Still think the white looks good thoughneilK wrote:Dunc, the Black wheels look cool, gives the car a 'harder' look.
Allways thought white was a barmy move, impossible to keep clean
The plan is to get these powder coated when the tyres have worn out as this paint finish will not last even with the laquer on them. Just not sure on the colour yet

What a day !!
The plans was to go to Zen to drop off stickers for their race car that I had designed for them and while I was there ask them very nicely to fit the fuel swirl pot for me as quite frankly I came t the conclusion that it was beyond my level of expertise and I had ran out of time to get anything else sorted ... two birds with one stone etc.
Anyway, the swirl pot off ebay and the bosch 044 pump from Sir Alyn of the ASP duly handed over, Tim set about fitting these into the engine bay in the area vacated by the catch can.
A bit of crafting later and measuring and cutting of pipes and it was time to wire the relay in.
In the meantime I was busy applying graphics to liz's car as it is off to topgear mag tomorrow with team orange drift team and some free advertising always helps. Decals duly applied and some serious head scratchign was going on as to where to take a live feed for the fuel pump from as the normal source of these doesnt exist on the 06 subaru - wtf !
Lots of wire testing and re-wiring of relays later and it was done. At this point I was in danger of missing the meet but Paul suggested that I gave the car a quick go on the dyno.... hey what the heck why not
First to check the low boost setting on the avcr - at 1.3 bar we made 440bhp ... nice
Second, to up the boost to 2 bar midrange tailing to 1.6 at the limiter... this time 463 bhp but torque was a little low but that was because it didnt reach the 2 bar - peaking at 1.65 instead. Paul amended the map and played with settings in the avcr to bring the boost in full and strong.
A run or two later and 464 topline figure was acheived but a much better spread of power. Then a nother quick run and SMOKE! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shit
Bugger
Bonnet tentatively lifted and oil all over turbo ... the oil feed pipe to the turbo had broken. Shit.
What is it with me and oil ?
Anyway, Tim set out to melt his hands to replace the pipe and clean up the oil. This was done soon very swiftly and to be honest I am quite pleased it went then rather than on track in Scotland.
Another period of time passed and more cleaning of oil and Paul ran it up n the dyno again. This time 465.3bhp and getting full boost
(I will post graphs up tomorrow)
Peak Torque was 450 + iirc but more importantly was that it was over 400lb/ft from 3500 to 6000
It was hitting 2 bar at around 3600 rpm
My initial target of 450/450 was achieved - so very happy. 500 is just a stone throw away and with some decent fuel in there will get that no worries.
Home now and knackered.

I am pretty pleased with them to be honest - very much as I thought they would be / should be.DunkRA wrote:cracking figures Dunc!! i`ll know to keep out of your way on track on saturday now :-D
No sign of any det during any run and still some work to do on the map to fine tune it at the top end.
Highlights of the figures for me:
- are equalling the std STi peak power at just 3500 rpm  and then just going and going (always nice to remind what it used to be)
- 1 bar of boost at 3000 rpm (I get 1.5 bar at 3k on the road though now)
- 2 bar at 3700 rpm
- power still strong at 7k
With some non std cams or porting of the heads it will easily open it out at the top.
I must say it sounded awesome on the rollers with the distinctive big boost jet whistle 8) love it.
Now off to wrap in cotton wool
