I think the important thing to remember is that you are supposed to enjoy the whole thing. I mean seriously, cars are our hobbies and to fall out with a good mate over something so simple........

I think hand on heart you guys knew you would be up against it this year. When we spoke at Donny earlier in the year you said that this year was for development of both the car and Alans driving. I think this was a prudent and correct outlook as many other particpants within TA have found their first year harder than they expected for all sorts of reasons.

The very best of luck Pabs. You two are canny enough to pull off a difficult task. I hope you have the patience and commitment to see it through. I'm sure you will :thumb:

Whats the plan?
1. Change the diffs (Stu noticed the difference on his)
2. New gearbox - combining 2 to make 1
3. New air intake and fueling set up

The gearbox won't be fitted before the end of the season unless the current one fails or the clutch needs changing.

Stu... We are sticking with our original plan of using this year as a development year but sometimes it is easy to get carried away. We always knew we would have the slowest car and aim is simply...Not to come last, for us that is as good as a win and not to get in anyone else's way

Knockhill prep goes pear shaped

Post by pablo »

Plan for the day was to head over to dyno centre at 08.30 this morning to have the fueling checked as we had changed the inlet system to improve air flow. Then head on up straight from there.
The fueling was fine but the car was 20% down on torgue and was also about 20bhp down. With the changes we made things should have gone up not down. Also the turbo was a hell of a lot laggier than it had ever been. On the way down there I did notice that the boost seemed to creep up as apposed to going straight up. :?
After 3 1/2 hours of trying to sort it the problem has been linked to the wastegate which would appear to be either stuck in the open position or the diaphram has gone
A quick call to Fitz at TopBoss and he agreed :( . So we now have to take the car over to Fitz in the morning to see about sorting the problem....Bollocks.
The only saving grace is that last year we bought a new wastegate but never fitted it.
To get to the wastegate you either have to remove the turbo and one of the heads or remove part of the suspension and the anti rollbar so not a simple job.
Once it's done we will need to have it set up again......so thats us out :x

As I said earlier, don't give up just yet. Knockhill will be a valuable round under your belts if you can patch the car up.

Best of luck for tomorrow. I hope to see you both on Sunday.
