As some of you may know, my near new front discs cracked at Marham. They had only done 180 track miles. The discs were fitted at the same time as Performance Friction 97 compound pads.
On inspection one of the discs had cracked straight through one face and the other disc had a hairline fracture. They were also well ridged and had slight lips. They also had blue heat smears. The pads are less than 15% worn!
Since the advice goes that it's always best to fit new discs and pads at the same time, and considering the very tough nature of these PF pads, do you think these PF pads are now resigned to the waste bin or will I be all right reusing them with new, better discs?
Your opinions welcome.
Using used pads with new discs?
the new discs with new pads advice is normally only by quickfit type operations that are on bonus to sell.................
just ensure that the pads are clean and flat with no damage/ridges/etc. and then allow the new discs to bed in........if they are std style then give them 100-150miles at reasonable use before hell breaks loose
