The WRX to STi Saga continues......
I am now at the stage where my new engine is almost ready to go in. I just need to install the clutch and new sparks, and and then it will get serviced when installed.
I have now been attempting to strip the wiring loom out of the car and i cannot believe what a big old job it is turning out to be, and just how much i am having to strip out of the car to get it all removed. Nightmare!! Please don't try this at home without a safety net
I found out yesterday that the wiring loom i was supplied with was for a v.8 and not a v.7 Impreza. For the most part the loom is the same but there are some subtle differences with some of the connectors. I found this out when i decided to compare the rear wiring loom female connectors in the car with the male ones on this new loom.
Low and behold they were slightly different and would not physically connect, so after a quick phone call to Andy at Grade A Subaru and an email with connector pics attached they rang back and said "we've supplied you with the wrong loom, the one you have is for a v.8 MY03 Sti. We'll ship the correct loom out to you today and you'll get it for Monday".
Well, i can't say fairer than that. The service so far from Grade A has been absolutely excellent and Andy is a top man to deal with!!
I'm so glad i had the good sense to check it first otherwise i could have installed it all, got to the last connectors and found out then it wasn't right only to have to pull it all apart again :wack:
The old loom is now not far from being completely removed anyway so the new loom will definately be installed as soon as it arrives. I can't wait to start all over again!!
My new headers and catted downpipe arrive on Tuesday (fingers crossed). I already have the center pipe which is a resonated type. It will hopefully keep things a little bit quieter and not get me thrown off at certain tracks due to excessive driveby noise!! I have to say the quality of the welding and finish on the ceter pipe is superb. If the rest of these parts are as good as this then i'm in for a treat. It just seems a shame that i'm going to shotblast the lot and ceramic coat it all as it looks so good in shiny stainless steel. However, it's all done in the pursuit of bhp happiness so well worth it!!
I've now got all the gear to blast and coat these parts so i'll make sure i get some pics up as soon as i'm ready to start that process.
Pics of progress so far to follow soon
