Cheers mate i'll do that , its a weekend car and is kept on the drive when not in use .
Rob .
Scooby owners please help !!!!!!!!!!!
Mine's left out in the weather and has been remarkably reliable but there are odd occasions when something isn't quite right. A spray of WD 40 and a good run to get everything dried out and working helps.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it, piss on it and walk away!
my old scooby (wrx) had a similar problem once, clouds of black smoke out the back, struggling to get any speed over 30mph, i once used 1/4 of a tank of petrol doing 6 miles.
my problem turned out to be the i/c pipe coming loose from the turbo, the jubalie clip had come off and the i/c pipe was only just resting against the turbo.
one thing to check would be in the fuse box. SBF 2 when mine had the problem, i noticed that that fuse had blown, i dont know what it controls, but untill i swaped that SBF 2 i had the same problem, even with all the i/c piping connected back up.
hope this helps mate

Rob,
There must be a decent Scooby specialist near you that can get this sorted out for you once and for all. Don't go to a Subaru stealership though because for the most part they are pretty useless for anything out of the norm or non-standard.
I would be tearing my hair out by now if i had any left  and i would be seeking the services of a professional outfit near me like Zen Performance, TSL, Area52 etc...!!
They will know how to cure it!! :thumb:

There are a couple of places near me where i could take it but dont want to get my @rse smacked on the price lol.
So far ive done
Fuel filter
unplugged and cleaned the main loom connectors
swapped the MAF
Fitted the standard dump valve
Think thats all ive done , it doesn't seem like plugs so haven't pulled them out yet , it seems like its the maf but when i put the one off the type r on it it was the same ! although i didn't do an ecu reset afterwards .
When its really bad its as if there is no throttle but if you hold your foot flat to the floor it sometimes will rev up and ploom black smoke !!!!
