Nice project Andy will be a beast and no doubt, those brakes looked wicked when Brettski showed us them.

keep us updated.

PS my 165 will be getting faster too, so you have your work cut out

here we go...
i present to you a 1991 carlos sainz monte carlo replica, celica ST165 (ie the same model as my previous sunburst one).

enough chat, on with the pics and captions...

these pics are how i received it today, after i had washed all the dust and dirt off it. at this point i discovered it has a few leaks :(

there is a bit of damage incurred during previous track incidents, although they are nothing too major - certainly nothing a little glass fiber and sandpaper cant fix (thank god!)

i've already fixed the following with a wire brush, glass fibre and sealant/underseal...

and the extent of my interior work today, fitting my sparco race seats and momo steering wheel :)

so lets run through what its got...
the front brakes are 335x30mm AP racing discs and aluminium bells, with AP 4-pot calipers. the rear brakes are 315x25mm vented discs with 2-pot calipers. stainless braided brake hoses throughout. there is also a bias valve allowing me to proportion up to 50% braking effort to the rear wheels (this can be adjusted in car, whilst driving).

the engine is coming from my old car, but benefiting from a motec pro ecu and a full 3" exhaust system. estimated power should be ITRO of 350lb.ft depending on fuelling.

eagle eyed viewers will note the fire extinguisher system. one jet is pointed over the engine, and the other is at the driver's feet. theres also an auxiliary fire extinguisher bolted to the passenger floor.

the rollcage is a safety devices fia/msa approved item. the dashboard has been flocked, to eliminate nasty/downright dangerous windscreen glare.

the wheels are 17" compomotive TH3's, pretty light although i only have 3 round wheels!!

the only major jobs to do now are to refit the engine/gearbox and suspension.

if it doesnt blow up, this is going to be one hell of an old car :)

Good man Andy, should be great fun, just try not to test this ones roll cage as well! :-D

Was all the suspension from your old one still okay after the roll?

Knowing you I am sure the "war" wounds will be worn with pride. Does look a mean old thing.

That car provided my front Mount which works really well!

Wish I had had the brakes off him now!!

You not going to freshen up the old motor before it goes back in?

ive swopped the head for another one, but kept the cams from the original head, put a metal head gasket on and arp studs. plus i had a stripped thread repaired :)

i'll rebuild the other head and swop it back over at some point, when i get bored...

Your pistons looked fine considering the boost you had been playing with, be good to see you out on the sprint series!
