best thing is to be really nice to the chap...it may help in the long run..once you get his quote(if its high) get him to check other places...such as H-tech

When it was Lind BMW they only used to contract there body repairs out to 'new image' dont know if thats the same now they are coopers?

So to make it expencive im guessing they will stick a big BMW comission on top of that!!

new image are hardly the best bodyshop in norwich

you could tell the chap that and say you know of better bodyshops(i.e cheaper)

All sounds good in theory, but it happened where I work in the week, in Surrey, so no idea of the dealers etc.

At the end of the day he is going to want a proper job done so will just take the main dealer quote and say pay this or we will go through the insurance. Why should he be bothered to go round several places to find the cheapest ???

I would say it will go through the insurnce as i would be surprised if it was much under a grand

Bad luck mate

Mark, for sure thats what he will do, I would do the same thing!

Just got to hope the bill isn't too great so as I can pay it direct to save on having to say that I've made a claim for the next 5 years when it comes to renewal time!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but I would say go through the insurance straight away, these things have a habit of escalating and before you know it he will want a top job done and probably try and get a hire car thrown in as well.

Insurance doesn't get any cheaper but that's what we pay it for - I know your premium will probably go up but insurance is there for peace of mind when you end up looking at a claim.

Some unscrupulous people may even try to get the repair cost increased ( with the agreement of the other person ) to cover some other bodywork they may want doing on another car !!! I can't believe some people do that :-D

Driving a fast Jap import is like coming out of the closet, you might surprise some people, but in the end you are still gay.

Logan sounds like a ballsache :(

But I agree with Fil........you may as well use the insurance. The extra ,if it's much at all, you get hit with next year will be minimal in the grand scheme of things. When I threw my gtr round a tree and claimed for a complete write off I was dreading insuring my next car..........let alone a cerbera  but it went up by

Logan, you silly bastard!! You're one of our better drivers too

Oh mate............I'd go for Fil and the man Bookers advice. You pay insurance for this very reason. Give him your details and move on mate.

Cheers for the advice lads, I know it has the potential to get silly, but will wait till he calls me with the estimate of repair before deciding what to do.

Got a reasonable excess anyway so if its circa that or a tad more my thinking is I just settle it without insurance, but i will not be paying him the cash, I will pay directly the bodyshop that is doing the work and get a receipt.

PS Think I may remove the "pimp tints" from the Evo.....

PPS. Stuart - not got the best record of driving of late tho have I
